Chapter 19

Recap: We left off where Rani and Veer had reached Canada for Veer's surgery that he had to do and then their long-awaited honeymoon. Rani kept getting called by someone named Eric Solano and Veer got extremely jealous, causing him to become his arrogant self again.

The next morning, Rani wakes up before Veer. She decided that she better give Eric a callback and let him know that she couldn't speak with him at the moment.

Rani: "Hello, can I speak to Eric Solano?"

Eric: "Speaking. May I know who this is?"

Rani: "Eric, it's me. You called me last night twice, its R-"

Eric: "Riley!! Oh my god, it's been so long. Actually, I swear one of our colleagues messaged me last night saying they saw you at the airport, but I just couldn't believe it."

Rani: "Yup, it's Riley. Uh, no I am not in Canada, maybe a look-alike?"

Eric: "Yes, that's possible. But, when are you coming back? You know we really need you back at the company. It's been tough without our CEO."

The title CEO stabbed Rani's heart with a knife. She missed working at her company, but the past year, it just couldn't work out. And now even though she is so close to them, she still cannot go back.

Rani: "Eric, I left you responsible when I left. You are still responsible for everything. You need to remember that, alright? Now, listen carefully, I don't know when I will be back, or if I will ever come back, but I am going to need you to know that my number can only be used for emergencies, nothing else."

Eric: "Riley, is everything alright? Are you fine? You can't leave like that, this was your dream, this is your dream! What's going on?"

Rani: "Eric, I promise you everything is okay. Please don't worry. If anything is wrong, you are the first person I will go to, alright?"

At this time, Veer woke up. He saw that Rani had disappeared, so he walked out into the hall to find her. He heard she was talking to someone, so he quietly listened in.

Eric: "Alright, take care. If you need anything, I am just a phone call away. Love you, bye."

Rani: "I love you too, a lot. Bye..."

Veer had only heard what Rani said in the end. His heart was shattered. Rani wasn't like this, how could this be happening. He didn't know what to do. Rani turned around and she saw Dakter Saab standing there. She got worried, did he hear everything? The company, the CEO, the English!!! Her life would be ruined. What should she do? She just looked at him and waited for something to be said.

Veer: Humko breakfast ke liye janna hai aur phir mujhe Hospital jana hai. Khali batana main aap ko kahan drop kardo."

(We have to go for breakfast and then I will have to go to the hospital. Just let me know where I should drop you off after.)

Rani let go of her breath.

Rani: "Ji, Dakter Saab."

(Yes, Dakter Saab.)

She ran into the bathroom and got dressed in the new clothes that she had bought yesterday. She wore a cute pair of ripped jeans and a sweater that was a little bit cropped. She hoped Dakter Saab wouldn't get mad, but these were the only styles of clothes that were sold everywhere.

She walked out of the bathroom and waited for Veer's reaction. Though he was super mad and heartbroken, his jaw dropped. Rani looked so pretty and honestly, very adorable. The clothes really suited her well and he was proud to say she was his wife until he remembered everything that had happened.
