Have you ever had that sinking feeling inside of you? The one that tells you that no matter what you do everything is going to turn out badly. The one where instead of picking the option that gets you out of trouble you are picking the option with the least damage done. When you know that whatever comes next you aren't going to like and there is nothing you can do to stop it.

I have that feeling.

Darleen's aunt took us to the fanciest restaurant in town. Just to make me feel even more out of place. She was able to get a change of clothes and Darleen had to change her shirt just so they didn't stand out so much. I, on the other hand, got stuck with jeans and a t-shirt, my beat-up running shoes and my, slightly wet from the shower, bed head. I stuck out like a sore thumb. I know she did it on purpose.

Of course, Darleen did her best to assure me I was fine, no one would care, but the stink eye I was getting from other people sitting and eating in the restaurant told me a different story. When we sat down the table had four chairs and four plate settings. I eyed Darleen in confusion. Before either of us could ask, someone walked up and sat down.

Think of the most beautiful girl you have ever seen, now forget about her and realize that this girl who just sat next to Darleen and across from me is ten times prettier than any girl in existence. She honestly looks like she belongs in another time period.

Her skin was baby smooth and resembled creamy milk. Her lips were a deep shade of pink, she wasn't even wearing any makeup and she still looked pretty. Her hair should be insured or something, hell maybe it is, big black ringlet curls that fell perfectly around her face and to her mid-back. Her eyes are a bright auburn brown with flecks of orange when the light shines just right. Everything on her face was perfectly proportioned to give her a sort of fake barbie doll feel about her. She looked to be my age, maybe a little older. When she smiled at Darleen, I swear the brightness of the light reflecting off her perfect white teeth nearly blinded me.

"Aphrodite!?" Darleen said in surprise.

Of course, this girl's name would be Aphrodite, because what else would her parents name her? I'm not being sarcastic, okay maybe I am a little... okay! Maybe I am a lot! Who is this girl and why the hell is she staring at Darleen like she just found her long-lost love!? Why is Darleen staring back! Hello! Obviously, I have been set up by her aunt here.

When I looked at her aunt she was smirking proudly at me. As if to say, Ha! Didn't see that coming did you. No devil from hell, I did not. You got me this time. How did this woman know I hate surprises?

"Hey, hope you don't mind me butting in. I was in town and I ran into your aunt. I really wanted to see you and she told me she could set it up. Hope that's okay." Of course, her voice is just as beautiful as her face. Of course, she is really nice and sweet as a Disney princess. I mean what else would she be?

Jealous? Me? Psh, no, I am not jealous. Not of that perfect little barbie princess Greek goddess... Ugh! Okay, maybe I am. Who is she? How does she know Darleen, why hasn't Darleen looked away from her since she sat down? I need answers!

"Yeah, of course. Anytime. Here I can give you my number. Wow, I mean I can't believe you are here right now; I'd never thought I'd see you again." Darleen hurriedly pulls out her phone.

"Me either, but life found a way." She giggled.

Okay, enough of this, who does this girl think she is!? She can't just come in here and steal away my girlfriend. Can she?

I glanced at Darleen who handed her phone to Aphrodite, who used her perfectly manicured hand to type in her number. My stomach turned at the sight. Then I glanced at Darleen's aunt who was eating the whole thing up, looking at me with something between pity and amusement. She obviously knew something I didn't.
