I knocked on Luciana's door

I knocked on Luciana's door. She opened it and as much as she was surprised to see me, invited me in.

"Cosa c'è che non va?" [ What's wrong? ]

"I think that Liam isn't here to help us." She raised her brows and motioned me to sit down on the couch, which stood right in front of the giant window. She sat down next to me, placing her hand on my shoulder, giving it a tight squeeze.

"Perché?"

"I think he and his family want to get rid of us. Liam's sudden affection was the first thing that threw me off. Besides the fact that they came to us of all people." Luciana nodded.

"Is this just your gut?" I shook my head no.

"Ebbene sì e no. [Well yes and no.] I didn't find anything

or something like that, but I caught him talking to his father about something that Liam wanted nothing to do with."

"Maybe it w-"

"My name was brought up twice." She looked surprised. "I don't know what it was about but I didn't like the tone they both spoke in as well as the overall energy in the room." She listened carefully. "I don't want to fight with him, but we were just with Tyler. He said that he did that to help us, which I think is bullshit, and wanted us to get Igor until he leaves next Friday."

"Do you trust him?" I looked at her trying to understand which one of the guys. Not that I trust either of them. "Tyler, I mean."

"No." She nodded.

"Liam?"

"No."

"So just go with your heart, tesoro." I smiled.

"My heart says to basically kill myself." She chuckled, rubbing my back gently. A gesture I've gotten fond of as time went by. "I like him. I really do, but my head is telling me no. And after fighting with this feeling, I feel like I'm losing interest in him."

"That's good then."

"Maybe. But I crave him. Just the sight of him in the room can lift my mood." I shook my head, trying to convince myself otherwise. "But no, I don't want him. I just hate him."

"Were you with him now?" I nodded.

"He kept saying how I should trust him and how I can't trust Tyler no matter how long I've known him. I told him that I don't trust him and it just slipped out."

"Cosa?"

"I asked him how long he was going to pretend to like me and walked out. I wanted to keep this to myself but he pushed my buttons." We heard a knock on the door. Luciana got up and opened it.

"Ciao, is Celeste here?" I heard Liam's voice. Luciana turned around and I stood up to go towards the door. Liam looked at me. "Can we speak in private?"
