We got back to the estate and got out of the car. We entered the house and went our separate ways. I went to my room to change while Liam went to see his mother. I changed into a tight-fitting, black dress, put on black heels, straightened my hair and put on light make-up with red lipstick. I sat at my desk and opened my laptop. I began looking through my schedule until I got a call. I picked up my phone and saw Luciana's name. My heart began to beat faster.
"Ciao, come va?"
"Bene, abbiamo trovato il diario." [Great, we found the diary.] Relief flooded my body from the fact that she was okay.
"That's great, anything else?"
"Yeah, there was a videotape placed on top of it but there's no way I can play it. It needs the old videotape player." I nodded.
"Alright, then just bring it back and we'll get one. Did you open the diary?"
"It's locked." What the hell? "There's no key and I have no idea how to open it. And if we try to break it, it'll spill out a liquid that'll damage the book." I began to think about possible keys that my family or I could possibly have.
"Who could have the key apart from Martina?"
"Valentina?"
"I doubt it." Then it hit me. "Hold on, I have a key necklace that Camilla and Antonio gave me on my coronation."
"Perfect, we could try it."
"Yes, anything else there? Like the documents or autopsies?"
"I found the autopsies and some files that could be useful. Damiano and I are coming back in a few days so we'll bring everything." Finally, something would be solved.
"Alright, call me if anything happens." I hung up and heard a knock on the door. "Come in." Liam walked in.
"Ciao." He dropped on my bed and put his arms behind his head. I smiled and stood up to find the key that I might have brought with me. "What are you so interested in?"
"Luciana found the diary." I opened my jewellery box and looked for the key. "It has a lock that can't be broken and I got a key from Camilla and Antonio on my coronation." I kept all of my jewellery in one box. I specifically remember putting that key in that box.
"Oh, so she's coming back in a few days?" I nodded.
"Cazzo," the key wasn't there. I turned around. "I left it in Rome." It was the only explanation.
"It's not the best idea for you to go now." I nodded.
"Io so." [I know.]
"Did they say anything when they gave you the key?"
"I really don't remember. I didn't even know it was a key until I opened it a day later. It's a necklace with a golden key attached." Liam nodded. "Luciana thought that Valentina would have it."
