Jo's pov
It's been a week since the day at the mall. I'd be lying if I didn't admit that I was scared shitless the moment that Steph had shown us the gun.
The cops still haven't found her yet and I'm officially going crazy with stressing out over everything. Thinking I see her behind every corner. Hearing her manic voice in my nightmares. She almost killed me and the love of my life it's enough to push even the strongest of us over the edge.
But I am not going to ever give her the satisfaction of thinking she broke me. That is why I am currently slipping on my baby blue dress and getting ready for my last winter formal. This is going to be the best night ever. The four of us with all our other friends dancing and just being young and having fun for once. That's not to much to ask for I hope.
"Hey can you zip this up?" I ask Mercy as we get ready in her room and she walks over to me smiling as she looks amazing in her dark blue satin dress.
"There you go Jo my main ho" she says hysterically giggling already a little tipsy from the few shots of fireball we downed before getting dressed.
"I told you never to call me that again" I laugh rolling my eyes at her. "And I told you I didn't care" she says playfully tickling me as we both burst into laughter. This is the first time in a week I genuinely feel normal again. Well what ever normal is supposed to be anyway.
"What the hell you lot doing in here" Hero comes in the door dressed in a black suit with a baby blue tie and matching hanky in the front pocket. "Looking like sex on a stick." I think to myself.
"Ewww gross" Mercy scolds me.At the same time Hero smiles and says "oh really baby well you look damn sexy yourself." Causing me to blush as I realize that I actually said that aloud and that the liquid courage is making me have a no fucks given feeling. As I laugh and wrap my arms around him our lips connecting in a too brief but passionate kiss.
"Let's get going yeah" Felix says looking handsome in his suit with dark blue tie as he grabs Mercy's hand complimenting on how beautiful she looks. I couldn't agree more my best friend is gorgeous. We all make our way down the stairs where our parents greet us at the bottom.
"Look at you lot your all so grown" Martha says crying as she pulls me and Mercy and then the boys in for hugs and kisses on our cheeks.
"Oi mum enough yeah" Hero chuckles as he wipes his cheek in embarrassment. "Oh stop it. You all could of died and you have some psycho after you's. I will kiss you up as I please" Martha says firmly placing her hands on hwr hips making me and Mercy giggle.
"Our little girls last winter formal" my dad says smiling a little bit of tears forming in his eyes as he looks at me and Mercy. "They grow too fast" George agrees as I notice him sniffle trying to hide his emotions. "Awwe we love you guys" I say giving them each a hug as Mercy joins me as do the others and we all envelope ourselves into a big group hug.
"Please keep safe tonight and don't forget no matter who wins Queen your both our little princesses don't let it ruin your friendship" my mom says smiling as she gives me and Mercy a kiss. "Mom we would never let that ruin our friendship" I say a little astonished she would even think such a thing. "Yeah me and Jo don't care about titles like that" Mercy agrees with her arm around me in solidarity. "Good" Martha says giving my mom a weird look which I know means for her to drop it. Ok that's something I'll have to ask about another time.
"We really should go now yeah love" Hero says breaking me out my reverie as I nod smiling following him out the door with our hands laced together. Our parents make us stop and take a bunch of pictures in the yard. The sun is just beginning to set in the background and I just know these are going to come out so good. I could feel Hero getting antsy beside me wanting to get out of there but I didn't mind though as I smile in the pictures knowing these are memories that we will show our future children one day.
