Tryouts is the first word that comes into my mind as I wake up today, and of course, why wouldn't it be. I've been looking forward to this day  ever since I found out about it.

I have been jogging everyday, lying to my parents and watching videos just so I can get into the team. Now, if this isn't something to be nervous about, I don't know what is.
I hurry out of bed and and get ready for school.

I go to the dining table to eat breakfast.
"Ava! You are not going to school in that.... thing.." mom says, glaring at me. "especially since today you have cheerleading tryouts!" she adds.

I feel like arguing but, I can't tell them I had soccer today, can I.... they'd surely make me wear a skirt for my supposed 'cheerleading tryouts'. I restrain myself from rolling my eyes.

"Fine..I'll wear a skirt" I say.
I go to my cupboard and wear a denim skirt, but not before slipping the shorts inside my bag. Wearing a skirt doesn't mean I can't change for soccer tryouts....

I say a quick goodbye to everyone and wait for the bus. I rush inside as soon as it cones and sit next to Sarah.
"Hey!" I say.
"Hi Ava! Are you excited for the tryouts?!" She says excitedly. I knew she loved doing all this sneaking around.
"Of course I am!" I reply with the same enthusiasm. "I'm just wondering what will happen if my parents do find out..."

"Take a chill pill Ava. They won't. " She says " Look on the bright side, it seems as if we are on some kind of secret mission!" She adds.

"I'll understand if you don't want anything to do with it anymore..." I say quietly trying to hide my smile. I knew what's going to come next.

"Are you kidding!" She exclaims "this is like, the 'funnest' thing EVER! Plus, you need to make the team."

"You do realize 'funnest' isn't a word right...? And, I hope so" I say, not wanting to get ahead of myself..She rolls her eyes.

I smile. I know I just met her about a week ago, but she has to be one of my closest friends. She's always there to support me.

We reach school and meet up with Kate at our 'spot'.
Just this Friday we all decided to create a meeting place for Kate, Sarah and I so that we would have a fixed place to meet up whenever we want to at school.
It was a beautiful tree that looked really old and unique which is what made it the perfect place. it kind of reminded me of The Whomping willow from Harry Potter.

I look around and see Cody talking to a couple of boys, some being the same age while some being older. I catch his gaze and wave. He smiles and waves back. The boys snicker behind him. Cody whacks a blond colored boy who is around the same height as him.

I turn to the girls. We talk for a bit and I find out that both of them had asked permission from their parents to watch the tryouts. This way I wouldn't have to go through them alone. I was thankful for that to be honest. Who knew lying to my parents could be so nerve wracking..

The bell rings and we head to our classes. The day passes boring as ever. We sit with Cody at lunch.
"Hey guys, did I ever tell you I have a twin brother? His name is Justin." Cody asks as we sit down.
"Wait, what? I ask, confused, "you have a twin brother?"
"I think that's what I said.." he replies raising his eyebrows holding his spoon midway to his mouth.
I roll my eyes. "What I meant was, since you've never mentioned him before and there is no one in school who looks a lot like you, it's hard to believe.."
"oh yeah.. we don't look like each other much. He has green eyes too but has blond hair." he says.
"Still, It must be so cool having a twin." Kate says picking her food with her spork..
"You could say so. He's actually trying out for the team as well.." he says looking at me..

"You couldn't have started with that, huh?" I laugh.
"Wait a second...." I start " you haven't told him about our plan have you?"
"Of course not! It's not mine to tell, but I did tell him about you and how you are going to tryout for the soccer team." he says nervously.
"Oh that's fine. Just please, the less people who know about our plan, the less the chances are for my parents to find out, and I really can't mess this up."
"Of course!" Sarah says, "We cross our hearts. We promise not to tell anyone."

"Wow Sarah! what are we like, in 4th grade?" Kate asks. We all laugh. I guess moving here wasn't as bad as I thought.

I somehow manage to get through the rest of my classes.
The bell for the last period finally rings.
It was finally time for the tryouts!
I change into my shorts and make way for the field. But, the thing was, I couldn't see any girl apart from me. I was the ONLY GIRL trying out for the soccer team, just like the girls had told me.
Talk about cliché....

Well, this is going to be interesting....
