"Virtual!"
"Come on! Wake up!"
My eyes opened groggily, the sun's rays striking me square in the face. Because of the sudden brightness, I scrunched my brows and closed my eyes. My lungs continue to burn, and my chest remains to heave for air. I can feel my heart pounding and my ears are ringing.
It feels as though my head is being split into half. Like a hangover, but 100 times worst. My body doesn't feel as heavy as before. Am I knocked out for a long time?
"Virtual? Oh, thank God!" It took a while for me to regain consciousness, but when I did, I could see the silhouette of who appears to be the one who saved me.
"L-lemillion?"
My vision sharpened, and I could see the relief on his face, "Thank goodness, I made it in time! I promised Eri-chan that I would support you in any way I could in exchange for the return of my quirk."
Eri.
Right.
My Eri, my daughter.
She had come a long way in mastering her quirk. She was able to control the amount of power required to regrow a lizard's cut tail. I recall Togata approaching her a few days ago, asking her to use her powers on him. I can still see him pleading with his head in a bow.
"Eri-chan! I'm sorry if you feel like I'm using you just for your quirk. But could you please test your "rewind" out on me?"
My daughter asked us for permission, and when we nodded, she went up to her hero. She smiled proudly at him, both hands outstretched to Togata's face.
"Don't apologize. This is what I trained for after all!" A tear gathered around the young girl's eyes. Her gaze glowed with thanks to the man who had saved her.
And now, Togata Mirio has become my family's hero. He assisted me in getting back on my feet. "I'm going to get you treated."
I groaned in pain while clutching my head, "no, it's alright. I can still fight."
"But you have used your quirk too much."
"I can suppress the pain, Lemillion. I just have to press this right here..." I began to apply pressure between the base of my thumb and index finger, as well as other areas of my body. I can instantly feel the pain numbing.
"There! I'd be okay for a while. I may be able to use my quirk but I'll try my best not to- not unless I'm confident I won't pass out," I laughed to lighten the atmosphere but the young hero just grimaced.
After that, I stretched my aching limbs. My body is sore all over, but I'm ready to fight. I nodded to the boy, and we started walking back to the battlefield.
When approaching the area, it is clear that a large number of players have been added. Shigaraki's minions and nomus litter the area, and the heroes are fighting as hard as they can. I wasted no time in lunging at the nearest nomu and slicing its body up. For these creatures, there is no turning back.
I bumped onto something after I was sent flying, "Girlie, glad your back! Death does not definitely suit you!"
"Right back at ya! You were gone for too long, Best Jeanist!" I grinned at the number three hero and he only winked at me in response.
The nomus have started to gang up on me, and I'm doing everything I can to fight them all. As they attack me one after the other, I don't have time to think or calculate my moves. This feels like going on a rampage with nothing but your adrenaline and your body to guide you. This is the true meaning of the phrase "kill or be killed."
