Chapter 32: Hair

"Hija,"

"What was that?!" agap kong tanong.

"Ee..."

"You said it was someone capability and trustworthy." giit ko at napasinghap.

Sa gulat ko sa pangyayari sa conference room na iyon, tulala ako at naging tahimik hanggang nagpasya ng itapos ang pagpupulong. I didn't even stayed after that because I am shocked and clueless for this decision!

At ito sila Tito at Jason, sinundan ako sa opisina. I have no time to appreciate the improvement in the surroundings dahil nangunguna sa akin ang pagkabigo.

"Fidai is trustworthy." tugon ni Tito. "He offered a hand in the company when I was busy covering up tracks and balancing the company. And everyone voted for him to be the President, hija."

"It's not the same thing! I didn't ask for that person's name in that position is because I trust your judgement, Tito. But I don't understand why it should be him!" giit ko.

"Ee, calm down."

"Alam mo ito, Jason, pero hindi ka nagbanggit sa akin. Do you know how hard it is for me to plan coming back in here? I've tried not to mix my professional life with my private life!"

"Kaya ito ang pagkakataon na maipakita mo ang professionalism mo. No one mentioned you are in a relationship anymore so you must stick with your goals if you don't really have an intimate relationship with him. Set aside you personal life." pangangaral ni Tito sa akin.

I scoffed and put my hands on my waist. Bigo akong umiling at napatalikod nalang sa kanila.

"Ikaw naman ang CEO, Ee. You can strip him out from his position. Pero hindi ako makakasiguro kung lahat ng board ay sasang-ayon. Over the past years, Fidai has done good to the company." mahinahon na sabi ni Jason.

Dumaing ako. "I know I can't do that. It will make me too defensive or affected."

"Iyon naman pala."

Tumingin ako kay Tito. Tahimik at kalmado siyang nakatingin din sa akin. Namumuo naman ang konsensya sa aking puso. Nagbuntonghininga ako.

"I'm sorry, Tito." paumanhin ko. "Alam ko na ginagawa mo lang kung ano ang makabubuti sa kompanya. Pero kagaya ng sinabi mo, I am clouded with my emotions."

He smiled at me. "It's okay, hija. Wala akong balak na pumagitna sa indibidwal ninyo na buhay. You sort out whatever it is and while you both are in the same workplace, be professional."

Napatango ako sa sinabi niya. Biglang tumunog ang intercom kaya kaming tatlo ay bumaling roon. Nasa malapit si Jason kaya siya ang sumagot.

"Rachelle,"

"Sorry to interrupt po. Nandito si Engineer Figueroa sa labas. Papasukin ko na po ba?" aniya.

Namilog agad ang aking mata at gulantang naglipat lipat ng tingin. Tito Mikael gave me that look that he had a valid explanation.

"Let him," si Tito ang sumagot.

"Okay po."

"And what is this surprise again?" I muttered under my breath.
