Chapter 23: Attention

He mentioned my name and it is a big deal for me because it's full of affection when he said it.

Lumabas na ako ng kwarto pagkatapos nakapagbihis ng uniporme sa trabaho. On my tracks, I heard Mom giggling in the living room.

"Oh, silly. You shouldn't have, Fidai, but thank you, hijo. This is adorable,"

Umigtad ako sa kinatatayuan at bumilis ang aking lakad palabas ng pasilyo patungo sa sala. Sumalubong sa aking mga mata si Mommy na may hawak na puting rabbit habang nasa kabilang couch si Fidai.

Namilog ang aking mata sa tuwa at gulat. He is here! Literally back! Dumapo ang tingin niya sa akin at agad tumayo na may ngiti. He even waved boyishly with a charming smile of his.

"Oh, she's ready. I'll take Petra outside for a walk," Mommy giggled.

"Say, 'Hi, Ate Ee,'" she toyed the rabbit.

"Mom, it won't talk."

Tumawa siya at umalis ng tuluyan.

"Hey, darling," he called and open his arms.

Kinagat ko ang aking pangloob na pisngi at mahinang lumapit sa kanya. I am so excited to see him that I almost jump into his embrace.

Ngumuso ako. "You gave Mom a rabbit."

Hinila niya ako pasalampak sa kanya bisig at niyakap ng mahigpit. I pouted and felt the warmth and the scent I always miss. I hugged him back tightly. He planted small kisses on my neck and hair. Umiinit ang aking puso dahil doon. His touchy and clingy moves is one thing that I miss too.

"Ah, a recharge..." he mumbled.

I chuckled wholeheartedly and patted his back. "There, there, little child."

He stepped back on couch and seated with me on his lap, seating sideways. Hinaplos niya ang aking mukha at hindi ko mapigilan ang halos pumikit upang damdamin ito.

"How are you, hmm?" he asked softly.

"Good. You? How's the province, you have pictures?" natutuwa kong tugon.

Nilabas niya ang kanyang cellphone at minapula ko iyon agad. He did not changed his lockscreen and screen wallpaper. Tiningnan ko ang mga litrato sa album niya habang ang isang kamay niya ay nasa aking kandungan na, nanghahaplos.

"You look cute and hot in your new uniform," marahan niyang sabi.

Tiningnan ko ang sarili bago tumingin muli sa kanya.

"Yeah, may nakita nga akong waitress na mukhang cosplayer sa cute niya. We had the same uniform."

"Hmm, you made friends already?"

I shook my head. "Nakita ko lang kahapon."

"You'll make friends. Mas cute ka sa sinuman doon,"

I giggled unknowingly. "Bakit ka nagdala ng rabbit para kay Mommy?"

He rested his chin on my shoulder and wetted his lips. "Kaden asked for a picture of the plane I'm fixing and accidentally, rabbits in the fam got out of their cage,"

Natawa ako. "At nanghingi si Mommy? Talagang nagdala ka pa,"

"It reminds me of you. Small and cute, adorable."

"Really? Baka sa ka-cute-ta niyan, isasama na ni Mommy sa pagtulog."

Humalakhak siya. "They don't bite, darling. They are trained back in the farm."
