Chapter 52: The Final Gambit (Part 1)

"2nd floor is clear... 3rd is clear,"

I took a deep breath and grabbed the radio from the bedside table. "Good job everyone!" I said before heading to the door next to my room where Theo was staying.

"How's your wounds?" I asked, at nag balat ng mansanas.

"I don’t feel them," he replied, adjusting the guns scattered on the bed, counting the bullets beside them.

"You sure about this, Theo?" I questioned. He nodded, a solemn look in his eyes. Today was the day we would face the people responsible for the chaos in our lives.

"I'm sorry, Allison," he said, and I could hear the regret in his voice. I knew he didn’t mean what he did, but the pain lingered. I understood the feeling of wanting to protect someone who mattered more than your own life.

"I'll accept your apology, but what is done will never be undone," I replied softly, managing a slight smile. "We're also sorry for not being there when you needed us." He gave me a small smile, at kasabay non ang pagtulo ng mga luha mula sa kanyanh mata.

I rushed over and hugged him tightly. Theo had made my life in Sapphire Academy special; he showed me joy, even while battling his inner demons.

Ilang minuto ang lumipas bago siya tuluyang huminahon and as we reminisced about our childhood forgotten memories when suddenly, I received a message from the radio transmitter in my ear.

"All units, this is Ace. We have a black Van firing and advancing towards the hospital. Prepare for defense. Repeat, prepare for defense," Ace's voice crackled through the radio. Ramdam ko ang pagkaseryoso mula sa Boses nito kasabay ng mahinang mga putok ng Baril sa paligid. I thought about our friends outside.

"There are still some patients here in the upper floors," Zywon chimed in over the radio, causing a knot to form in my stomach.

"Allison, we need to get in position!" Narinig Kong sigaw ni Shawn mula sa labas ng pintuan.. I hurried to the door, heart pounding, and saw Shawn gripping his weapon tightly.

"Shaina, Zaireem! Where are you?" I called out as Shawn and I navigated the dark hallway. Suddenly a loud bang was heard in our position dahilan para yumanig ang paligid.

I could hear Shaina directing others sa hindi kalayuan and I spotted Zaireem tending to some patients na pababa ng building na naalintana ng pagsabog.

"Shawn call the other squads to help them" wika ko dito na agad naman niyang sinagot ng tangi bago dinampot ang telepono.

"Nandito kami! Let’s go!" Shaina replied, determination radiating from her.

When we reached the lobby, Ace was poring over a map of the hospital. "Our main objective is to protect the patients. We cannot leave them," he said.

"Why don’t we set up a barricade here?" Shawn suggested. "It’ll be easier to control the enemy from this position."

"Agreed!" Zywon added, weapon in hand. "We need to be quick. The enemy has been waiting to strike, and I'm sure there will more explosions and this place will soon crumble"

Despite our fear, we focused at nag umpisa ng maghanda to set up the barricades we needed.

"Allison, you take the right. Zywon, you’re on the left," Ace instructed. "Shaina and Zaireem, front line. Shawn and I will cover the rear." Utos ni Ace saamin na agad namin sinunod.

He stood and commanded us with pride, I was about to go when he stopped me by holding my hand, "please be safe" wika Niya saakin at naramdaman ko ang paglapat ng mga labi Niya sa noo ko.

I look at him and saw his smile before letting me go. Napangiti nalang ako bago tumakbo papunta sa pwesto kung saan kami mag aabang.

We scrambled to comply. As we fortified our barricade, more gunfire erupted outside. "We need to be ready," Zywon said, placing an old but sturdy table.

My heart raced as the sounds of battle grew louder.

"All units, enemy forces are nearing the entrance! Brace yourselves!" Ace’s voice blared again sa mga radio na kanya kanya naming dala.

Before we could fully prepare, the door suddenly burst open. Mga lalaking itim na may bitbit na malaking Baril ang mga nag sipasok while shouting, "Attack! Attack!"

"Fire!" Ace commanded, and we all pulled our weapons. Bullets whizzed through the air, splintering wood from our barricade.

I watched as Shaina took down an enemy, her fierce determination fueling us all. "Keep going! Don’t give up!" she yelled.

"Watch your flanks!" Zaireem shouted as an enemy slipped behind us. I aimed and fired.

"Got you!" I exclaimed, but another enemy rushed in. "Allison, behind you!" Zywon yelled, and in an instant, I saw him leap toward the assailant.

"Get down!" he shouted, tackling the enemy but getting hit in the shoulder. "Zywon!" I screamed, rushing to his side as he fell.

"I'm fine, finish the fight!" he urged through gritted teeth, Nararamdaman ko ang sakit ng Tama na natamo Niya base sa Boses nya dahilan para napahigpit ang hawak ko sa dala-dalang Baril.

"Shawn, cover me!" Ace yelled as he moved to a better position. "We need to push them back!"

"On it!" Shawn replied, firing at an enemy on the left. In the back, I saw Zaireem tending to a wounded patient, tears streaming down his face.

"Zaireem, help us!" I shouted. "We need more hands here!"

But the enemy kept coming, relentless in their assault. Each gunshot heightened the tension around us.

"Shaina, keep firing!" Ace ordered. "No retreat!"

I saw Shaina fearlessly stepping forward, her eyes ablaze with courage. Each shot she fired seemed to dim the enemy's hope.

"Allison, get ready!" Zywon warned. "Another group of enemies is approaching!"

We quickly reloaded our weapons, the enemies seemingly endless. The shouting and chaos surrounded us, but we held our ground.

"Keep firing! We can't let them take this place!" Ace shouted.

In a flash, I thought of the patients—those who relied on us. We couldn’t give up now.

Zywon was beside me, even injured. "We can do this, Allison. I’ve got your back."

The battle raged on, our hearts filled with determination. We knew we weren’t alone—our friends, our family stood with us.

But despite everything, the enemy kept advancing.

"Advance! Together!" Ace shouted.

"Zywon, cover me!" Shawn yelled as we pushed forward against the enemies.

The gunfire felt like a chaotic symphony. In the back, Zaireem continued caring for the injured while we fought.

Amid the chaos, I felt a surge of strength. This was our moment.

"Push forward!" Ace commanded, and we advanced, united. Each step was filled with power and hope.

"I’m right behind you, Allison!" Ace shouted. I believed we could end this battle together, side by side.

But just then, the air crackled with tension, unti-unting nabalot ng usok ang paligid dahilan para Napa ubo kami, and a sharp pain shot through me. I looked down, stunned. Blood soaked my shirt.

"ALLISON!" Ace's voice rang out as I saw him dashing forward para makapunta sa pwesto ko when I heard another gunshot, I saw his eyes filled with urgency and fear before everything around me faded, the sounds of battle muffled as darkness crept in.

Before everything went black.
