17. The True Hybrid

I lay here whie Elena explains to Jenna what's happeneing and what is about to happen. A circle of fir rises around Elena and I hear the same woman from earlier say "Don't bother trying to get through. I spelled the circle. You're trapped. No matter what you do."

"Greta...Please, just- just let them go." Elena says, gesturing towards me and Jenna. "Klaus chose them." Greta says while cuttig her wrist with a sharp rock before truning to Jenna. "Drink it." "Jenna don't!" me and Elena yell at the same time. After some hesitation, Jenna drinks the blood.

After Jenna has enough blood Greta puts a ring of fire around her too. She walks over to me and grabs my arm harshly, pulling me to my feet. "I don't know why Klaus wants you here but he does. He wishes for you to help me do the spell o break the curse." I look at her shocked. Klaus knows what will happen to Greta if I do that. "But If I do that then yo-" she cuts me off before I can warn he of Klaus' plan to kill her. "He says if you refuse, he'll kill Jeremy, leaving you the last gilbert standing."

I look at her hand that's still wrapped tight around my arm "Fine." I say before ripping my arm away from hers. I didn't want to be the one to help kill my sister or my aunt, but either way, Jenna and Elena are dieing tonight, there's no reason Jeremy has to die too. Maybe I'm just doing this because I don't want to be the last Gilbert standing.

She walks me over to this pedastal with a stone bowl on it along with some torches surronding it and tells me what to do.

"Greta, witches are supposed to maintain the balance in nature. It's your duty to them to keep this curse sealed." Elena says trying to convince her. "My duty is to Klaus! The new order." on cue Klaus shows up. "Kissass" I mutter under my breath but I hear Klaus chuckle. "Glad to know I still have a dance partner." he looks around at all of us "Hello, my lovelies. Are we ready?"

Jules, Elena, and Jenna are still contained in the rings of fire. Jules continues to moan in pain. Up on a nearby hill, Klaus retrieves the moonstone from his pocket. "I've got the moonstone. I spent 500 years looking for this. I hate to part with it." e hands the moonstone to me, only for it to be snatched out of my hands by Greta who looks up at the moon "The moon has passed its apex. Remember everything you need to do?" Greta asks both of us. Klaus says I rmember then they both turn to me I just mutter a reluctant "Yeah."

Greta drops the moonstone into a stone bowl filled with flames. Sparks fly as the moonstone is destroyed. Greta and I begin chanting a spell in Latin. Klaus approaches the rings of fire.

He looks at Jules and says "Shall we?" Only to be met by a menacing growl from her. The ring of fire around Jules disperses. Jules's eyes turn yellow and she uses her werewolf speed to rush at Klaus. Alas, Klaus gets the upper hand and pins Jules to the ground, plunging his hand into her chest and ripping out her heart. Jules takes a final breath, tears streaming down her face, and dies. Klaus breathes heavily as he holds the bloody heart in his hands. Elena and Jenna look on, horrified.

We continue chanting a spell while Klaus holds Jules's heart over the ceremonial bowl, squeezing the blood into the flames. Greta looks exausted, it won't be long before she's dead. I give Klaus a pleading look only to be met by his cold gaze. He looks down at the flames in the bowl "Does that mean it's working?" "It's working" me and Greta say at the same time.

I look over to see Jenna talking to Elena about somthing I see ehr mouth say Ariana so I guess she's trying to get one last message to me. Little did I know how right I was.

Klaus goes near the fire ring containing Jenna. I say a quick spell that allows Greta to have access to some of my power so that she can continue the spell as I walk towards Klaus. I am almost right next him when I hear him say "Well isn't that an interesting bit of information, I'll be sure to tell her." "Tell who what?" I ask making all eyes land on me. Klaus decides to speak up "Try anything and the youngest Gilbert sibling dies." "I know now tell who what?"

Klaus looks amused and is about to respond but he stops himself and looks at the top of the quarry. "I don't recall you being on the guest list." I look there and see Stefan standing there. They go up there and talk for a little Jenna was easedropping so I know what they were saying. I can't let Stefan die for Jenna but I can't let Jenna die for Stefan.

They come down rom the cliff and aproach the three of us. "Quite the predicament. You know, it's funny, all this talk about preserving family, and here's Stefan, granting your wish." Klaus says almost tauntingly he points a stake between Jenna and Stefan "Who's it going to be, Elena?" "No." we say at the same time. "Oh, don't worry. There's actually no choice." Klaus vamp speeds around Stefan and stakes him in the back. Stefan screams in pain and crumbles to the ground.

Klaus rips the stake out of Stefan's back, leaving a sizable chunk of wood in his back. "I have other plans for your boyfriend. I want him alive. But for now..." Klaus trails off snapping Stefans neck. "Whenever you're ready, Greta." Greta looks exusted. She chants some more and the fire ring around Jenna dies down. I try to do something but I can't move. Greta put a spell on me. After a moment of shared silence between Jenna and Elena, Jenna vamp speeds to Greta and ferociously bites her neck. Greta screams. Klaus vamp speeds over to Jenna and stakes her in the back, pulling her off of Greta, who has fallen to the floor. Jenna gasps and Klaus releases her. Jenna falls to the ground. Elena and I start to cry.

Elena tells Jenna to turn it off and she looks like she does right before Klaus Drives a Stake through her heart. "Jenna!" Elena and I yell as I fall to the ground in tears. Greta removed to spell but it doesn't matter now, Jenna's dead. Jenna's body starts to become grey and decayed. Klaus releases the stake from his grap and stands up. Jenna lays lifeless on the stone with the stake through her heart.

Stefan wakes up and I try to move to help hime but that stupid spell is placed on me again. The circle of fire disappears from around Elena. Elena looks up at him. Klaus extends his hand towards her. Elena gets up from the ground and walks past Klaus, ignoring him. Elena makes her way to the altar and looks down at Jenna's body. Klaus follows her up to the altar and grabs Elena's face in his hand. Below them, Stefan struggles to get up from the ground. Klaus turns Elena's face so she is looking at him.

"Thank you, Elena." "Go to hell." I can't help but smile at the comment but my smile is instantly replaced with a frown as Klaus sinks his fangs into her neck and starts to drain Elena of her blood. Stefan and watch on, helplessly. Klaus holds Elena tightly as his eyes starts to sprout more veins. Elena's eyelids flutter and her eyes roll into the back of her head and she dies. Klaus releases her and Elena falls to the ground. Blood drips from Klaus' mouth and the flame in the bowl is extinguished. Elena's body lays lifeless and me and Stefan stare at her, sadly, and Stefan lowers his head to the ground. Klaus breathes heavily and walks down the stone steps.

I let out an agonizing cry of utter despair as I lok at two of the most important people to me are dead. "Oh god, no. Elena?" after she doesn't respond I yell out "Elena! No! No! Please, no!" I see Greta die but not before she shoots me with a dart filled with witch hazel and I pass out.

Most of my family is dead. What did Jenna want me to know? Where will I be when I wake up? This is the worst day of my life.
