I didn't stay long enough for the shouts of the maids to reach me, I ran as far away as I could, through alleyways I so thoroughly recognized and remembered. Soon, just as the sun was setting and an orange hue was cast across the magical medieval city, I creaked the door open to a tavern, one I thought didn't change at all. People were bustling in it, trying to get the newest and cheapest drinks and entitled men adhering to their „needs". The tavern was cavernous-not surprising since it was so popular amongst the gangs. It had a mahogany staircase wrapped around the stage and on it, women and men practically pouncing on eachother. I have lost all such feelings ages ago and just watching people be that way almost made me gag.
While walking to the stage, I snatched someone's cloak from their seat and draped it over my conspicuous hair. I then proceeded to the side of the tavern and started my work. Each time a drunken person made themselves vulnerable I stole anything of value. Watches, money, purses and jewelry. Practically anything I could carry. The Trick to it was human perception and illusion. You stumble into someone's leg and steal their watch. A human's field of vision is solely based on their focus and could potentially limit them. My parade around the tavern was somewhat like a dance, weaving between groups of people and busy staff. When I thought I collected enough, around 300 gold coins if everything was pawned, I headed out. It was around three in the morning and obnoxious people were showing up so I decided to retire into a nearby inn for the night, as our knights would never expect me, the villainess, to stay in a "filthy " place.
I take on look back at the seats and tables filled with laughter and I nearly feel a little nostalgic. Useless. Nostalgia won't help in running away.
Then I notice another person in a cape:a tall, well-built man with probably black hair. He looked like a young, naive noble, easy prey, and I was tired so I was unfocused when trying to rob him too.As I walked past him I slid my hand to where he probably kept all his money and stumbled back when he grabbed my wrist and held it up.
"Thief."
"Obviously."
His red eyes opened wide and he looked surprised at my answer, which made him grip my arm even stronger.
Ah, that's going to leave a mark, I laughed to myself.
He kept holding my arm, annoyingly, so I started:
"Could you let go of my arm, it's not courteous to touch a lady you just met."
Now he opened his mouth so wide I swore a bug would fly in, and didn't let go of my arm.
"I don't think so, since it is but a thief who should be apprehended "
Oh, that's a shame, I'll have to resort to this then. Good thing my acting skills are on point.
" O-oh my goodness! Please stop sir! I just met you why are you harassing me?! " I wailed, fake crying immediately. Of course, this caught the attention of everyone in the bar, and when I pulled down my cape and saw my beauty many rushed to my aide.
"How could you! To harass a young lady? That's unacceptable!"
"Seize him!"
When the commotion occurred and it looked like a brawl was beginning, I smirked at the handsome man, drew very close to his ear, and whispered, "Good luck"I opened the front door slowly, smiling to myself on the way out as someone threw the first punch.
Ah, that was exhausting, I feel like sleeping for an entire week. At least I have money now. I'll leave to sea tomorrow so they don't catch me, but I'll go as soon as I sleep 14 hours at least.
