The wind is pure bliss in my hair as I jump from rooftop to rooftop. One might wonder how I have the courage to do that, especially if everyone would be looking for me. Actually I have cast illusion magic on my hair to change the colour to a snow-white.
Following that thought, it's currently dawn and the only people out and about are market-sellers and workers. Humanity's true nature is selfish. No one dreams in this world anymore. No one looks to the skies. Everyone is so focused on their own life and everyone wants to attract attention to themselves. It's terribly easy to blend in after years of hiding in plain sight.
A mouth-watering aroma wafts through the air, almost enchanting me. Ah, my second passion, bread. Do not get me wrong, I have tried all types different desserts until I was almost a top-notch connoisseur. However, the plainest things I have found to be the best. Wide windows of the Brooke Sae Bakery appeared to be covered in tiny fingerprints; the commoner children definitely adored the goodies in there. Hmmm, should I be a baker? Ah, maybe not here in the capital. An pink-ish hue now spread across the waking sky. Oh,it's getting late. I must not forget my goal. Clothes. I need to get rid of this... this.. cake-like dress.
Spotting the closest, smallest man-aimed clothing store, I slide in hoping to be unnoticed. I buff my shoulders and cover my face entirely with the cloak, acting the most-manly I could.
"I'm looking for a traveling robe for my master. Preferably suited for ships."
A square-faced man looks me up and down, squints his grey eyes, and then finally his expression relaxes, accepting the act as a truth.
"Ah, of course. What's your master's size?" He grumbles. Eyes of the typical greedy scammer.
I had not thought of measurements,"You can just get the smallest size possible. Measure me if necessary. We are... similar in size", I reply.
He eyes me up and down again, the eyes like insects on my skin. Ugh, creep.
However, he takes a very nondescript outfit from a stand and shows it. Hmm, perfect.
"That would be 200 gold"
An astronomical price, I smirk, well the more fun it will be. It doesn't change the fact it's annoying, though."I bet your wife would love to hear about your...secret friend", I hypothesize.
His eyes widen."H-How- No, W-What are you spouting! This-This slander!"
My eyes slide over his desk: letters, other letters, money and a closed envelope.
"Katherine, is it? Oh! She would be so terribly sad to hear of this!" The hand on my chest adds a sort of pity to my performance.
"How do you know this?!"
My voice takes on an alto, Sing-Song tone,"The tan-line of an engagement ring on your ring finger, the pink, perfumed letters with a cheesy curved handwriting with no name and - not to mention- your wife's initials on the billboard of this shop. Katherine was just an estimated guess...
50 gold, If you please."
"I'll call the guards!"
"Make sure to tell them about your embezzlement of funds and tax evasion." The reflection of my eyes in his is predator-like.
He's like a cornered gazelle. Ha, this is the most entertainment I had in a long time. But this is tiring. I want to rest.
He reluctantly accepts the bargain and I practically throw the money on his counter. Then, I step into a changing room and leave the dress on the floor. A present for the wife.
I walk out of the store a completely different person. My hair was now hid under a leather hat and the cloak stuffed in a bag. I smelt of oak and snapdragons... yes, that would definitely add to my newfound soft masculine charm.~~
That day a tear-filled woman ran out of the store.
"F**k you! WE WERE MARRIED FOR 20 YEARS. And now you LEAVE me for some SL*T??"
In her hands a tattered frill dress and a rose bra.
"I CANT BELIEVE THIS."
The raging woman breaks the window to the store and leaves her husband dumbfounded.A servant in a cloak watching from the shadows overhears and notices the dress. His mouth opens in realization.
"Master, I think I found a trace of the girl."author's note: soooo I'll have more time soon but I hope you like it so far! Don't hesitate to message me or anything if you want :))**also i have now proofread and edited the whole story so far( I hope the past typos did not make it unreadable).
