In a click, Kiara put on a masterful, frightened facade and started nearly sobbing. Oh, she's good.
"M-Misters, y-you aren't going to hurt us, are you?"
Chuckling, the mustached bandit nodded to his partner," I told you this house in the middle of nowhere looked like a catch."
"The only thing here is these girls and, some soup. Are you actually mentally deficient?" The smarter bandit said to the other, the latter hanging his head low, self esteem hitting near zero.
I made a swift mental description of both, just to report the murder somewhere later, I didn't want to leave Kiara cleaning up all day after.
Bandit 1 was a white male, approximately six feet tall with a medium build. His complexion was fair and he wore a moustache. They looked young, perhaps between 20 and 25 years of age.
Bandit 2 wore a tattered, bandana, and his hair, blonde in color, hung out the back of it to about shoulder length. As he ran, he carried his right arm across his chest as if it were in a sling.
As soon as they came close enough to manhandle,Kiara grabbed her strapped on dagger and slashed wherever she could, most likely cutting through their main arteries. Yes it was sloppy work, but yes it was still impressive.
Her eyes glinted while doing so, glinted while protecting Lilith. As if that was what she was meant to do, her fate, her destiny.
Lilith noticed that herself, but decided not to comment, as she would let Kiara do anything she wanted to, it was her choice. Lilith wasn't given a choice in her life, but that was about to change, starting with changing Kiara's life.
Blowing a strand of her out of her eyes, Lilith jumped out of her bed, her hands holding on to the railing and her legs stretched out in front of her, poised to kick. And kick she did. The first bandit was gone in five seconds, and the other lasted a while longer, it seemed. Kiara was taking care of him, her previous facade now completely wiped and her real face, the face of a cold and quiet killer, showed. Relief flooded over Lilith as she thought about Kiara being the one who protected her, and made sure to make a mental note to never get on her bad side.
The bandits now lay in a puddle of blood, heaped on eachother like luggage. Dead weight, taken literally.
"I'll deal with them, i can throw them in a river, but it goes directly to town and would probably freak some kids out. I could cut them into tiny pieces-"
Lilith nearly gagged.
"But it would be messy and disgusting...I could-"
Lilith interrupted, eager to change the topic of the conversation to something less... gory. " Leave them here, I'll take care of them. I'll make sure the press doesn't catch wind of us being here... hmm, let me see." She analyzed all her options, half heartedly, not caring whether she was caught but didn't want Kiara to face the consequences.
"Nuns. We'll be sisters of the church visiting family on a rare occasion and these bandits thought us to be easy targets, we were shocked and unable to speak. And uh, we found them dead?"
Kiara raised an eyebrow.
"Okay okay! We didn't find them here. We, uh, okay I'd rather say we killed them and be done with it."
Now Kiara raised both her eyebrows, "Calm down Lilith, it's only blood, not nuclear waste," and she nonchalantly lifted both dead males on her shoulders, splattering blood all over her adorable face, and started walking out the house.
Maybe I should stop judging things by their cover, even if it is an adorable, tiny bunny, Lilith thought, exiting the house right after hurriedly to help Kiara Viggo, the bloody bunny.
Following that train of thought, Lilith was the same, she was lovely, wasn't she? Her wishful thinking made the animals nearby snicker.
-
Kiara did not need any help, a smug smile plastered on her face. She walked all of thirty minutes and suddenly stopped right by the foot of a canyon, one as deep as the sea in places. Not wasting another minute, she soley threw them both into it, clapped her hands twice, imitating washing them, and turned back.
"You shouldn't be following me around, Lilith. You are a patient."
Lilith in turn stretched her limbs, leaning side to side, probably looking like one of those yoga youtube videos. The sun setting in the background just added a bit of spice, it also meant Lilith was gathering her dark powers back, now singing in her blood and slowly healing her wounds. Too bad they couldn't heal scars.
"Yeah well, being a patient didn't stick." She murmured, brooding over her unfinished soup. "I would just like to rest, but unfortunately, I now have a band of good-for-nothings I need to take care of."
Lilith breathed once, twice, trying to muster the courage.
" You know, you could join too, I'd really like another female presence to help beat them up sometimes."
"Gladly,Lilith."
The words shot right through her heart, and melted the frost layer around it, the layer she has been hellbent on keeping rock hard and frozen. There were plenty more layers to crack, but Kiara Viggo, supposedly a farmer's daughter, cracked the very first one. And Lilith would always love her for it.
If someone saw them standing right then and there, a lovely bunny and her, a villainess, they'd think she was the one most likely to push Kiara off the cliff.
"We shall leave as soon as possible tomorrow for the boat, and your friends."
Friends. That's what I had.

Into the hearkened light of day, into the blessed blue, comes a silhouette that is born of shapen light. And to the eyes, the adjusting eyes, to the brain still processing the freshly brightened hues, appears doors, windows, a roof of fine tile, a cottage of gay castle-heart. On one wall is a shelf with a collection of books, each volume in the collection representing a stage of life – birth, childhood, teenage years, high school, college, career... There are two sets of the collection, each book with some pages filled and others waiting to be filled in as the travellers make their journey through the woods. In the middle of the cabin lies a bed covered in the softest cotton sheets and covers inviting the travellers that have journeyed for miles to finally rest in contentment.
Kiara has never really stepped into these woods, preferring to stay by the banks of the river passing by the woods, playing in the bright sunlight, admiring it glistening of the white rocks along the river bed. She has heard about the cabin and occasionally ventured to the edge of the woods, but never quite stepped in. She never felt the pull of the cabin calling to her, as many others have, being more focused on the on-goings along the river. She continued blissfully passing time along the river banks waiting until that someone shows up, who would take her hand and walk with her into the woods. They would venture together, scrapping knees and elbows as they made their way deeper and deeper in search of that cabin whose mysterious glow beckons us. Perhaps she is new to the woods too, and they would together learn the ways of the woods, the challenges it poses and the trials and tribulations that have to be born. Someone that is familiar with the responses of its trees and knows the calls of the cardinals that inhabit the woods. Someone like her, who could hold Kiara's hand and show her the ways of the woods as they journey together toward the cabin.
One day, Lilith showed up, out of the blue, and held her hands and led me to the edge of the woods. She proceeded to lead Kiara through the thorny shrubs that lie at the periphery calling her to come deeper into the woods. She made Kiara see the glow of the cabin that now beckons her, daily, from the river bank, calling her to seek it out. They were not alone anymore.
