The docks were kissed in the sunshine of the early morning, waves glistening and boats rocking to and fro in the wind. Boats were all slightly busy as travelers readied for their journeys and merchants traded. The sky was red yesterday evening, meaning today's weather shall be pleasant. Ah, this is of course because of the sailor phrase: "red sky in morning, sailors take warning. Red sky at night, shepherd's delight." Call me superstitious, but in this world it works.
Prawling around to choose a ship to board secretly upon, someone's shoulder found way to mine, nearly tripping me. Then, they ran as if in a chase, not even looking my direction.Asshole. Let's see who's the rude assailant this time. A hooded person. Yeaaaaahhhh no thank you. Main character sign. And behind him another hooded person most likely trying to murder him in the most brusque way possible. I was about to walk away when I noticed my artifact missing.
Oh, that's fucker didn't.
I chased him along with the other chaser. They glanced at me and I could practically smell their surprise. His violet eyes looked at my figure, rendered me not a threat and weak( very funny) and placed their focus on the asshole again. Well, alright. I'll show them both who's stronger. I knew they were already strong, if not main characters. However, my feminist, 21st century self couldn't bare to let it slide. And the other one stole my artifact, so.
I slid to the empty alleyway they both entered and saw the asshole getting cornered in a dead end.
"Ah, fuck" , he breathed, sweat sliding down his forehead.
"yeah you shouldn't have done that"
Only then they noticed me, the one who stole my artifact paled slightly and the other nearly snickered.
Ugh.
Making sure to hide my face, I reached out my hands in a graceful manner and dark ozure vines with lilies ( not spikes, mind you I'm not trying to kill them) rose out of the earth and cracks in the walls, swooping in to trap the both of them. The hooded person revealed himself, grabbing on vine and holding it with his bare hand. His brunnete hair showed strands of white and his green eyes were somewhat kind yet definitely privileged and choosing to be ignorant. His muscular build definitely gave him an advantage. However that amount of strength was still extraordinary. The red-haired person reacted to my vines by dodging and teleporting, or trying to set my immune-to-nearly-everything vines on fire.
"Excuse me young miss, why are you doing this?" The brunnete asked, confused after assuming me not a threat.
I knew I was purposely looking for a fight; I had to vent a little.
"You pissed me off-", I stated calmly, recalculating my attacks and adding spikes and poison to the vines.
"And you-",I motioned for the magician,"stole something of mine."
I don't give them time to react.
I let loose, knowing they'd block most attacks so I added more, and more, never tiring out.
When the brunette gets too close, I kick his knees and make him fall, having no strength i rapidly back away and rely on mana.
Finally, they were both trapped in a imperturbable cage .
While commanding the vines to search the magician, I realised he did not in fact have the artifact on him.
"W-who are you? You're very strong. Uh,let's see...I'll give you the artifact if....if... we'll you let me go and show me your face... oh and you can beat this guy up too, he tried to kill me because I borrowed one of his imperial keys... Oh oops... wasn't meant to say that..."
The brunnete gave him a deathly glare and then turned to me.
"Why did I piss you off?"
"You thought I was weak because I'm a woman"
At this he was obviously astonished.
"Well,well you should be!"
"Yes, In this world , that's the stereotype. It's honestly so controversial and it should be abolished but no one ever does anything. I broke your stereotype. A weak woman could kill you. Being "strong " is definitely not only muscle strength or magic, but being either morally and mentally strong and not giving to stupid principles thought up my even more stupid people. You need to learn how to think for yourself if you don't want to end up dead."
I sigh.
Now I'm just saying this because he somewhat reminds me of myself in my 4th life.
I glance at both of their tensed bodies and see they misunderstood.
Clearing my throat, i state in a sonato," I won't kill you. I just wanted to make you listen to me...You also might be wondering how I know what you're thinking... you're... in a novel that I read before "
I don't even know what i am saying, or doing anymore.
"I also died like a few times before this life so, yeah I know practically all future outcomes"
"And I won't show you my face, not until I can trust you."They were shocked and maybe even a little disbelieving, but, the Sogtarn family does have a magical gift for discerning lies, so he would know I was telling the truth, or was completely insane.
The other glances his way, as to possibly seek the words that said this was not true, but the only thing he finds is the brunettes eyes wide and rethinking his life, but also somehow accepting. As if this was the only explanation.
"Ah, I spoke more than I should've.Anyways , you give me the artifact and you stop disrespecting women thinking you are protecting us. Wait 10 minutes and the vines will wilt."
I turn and am about to leave, when:
"Ah! S-stop!" The magician desperately whines.
"You are looking for a boat.. yes? We have a boat and we were just about to board for a mercantile route around the empire... I-I want you to teach me your ways! I admire you!"Huh. That's a development.
Quite unexpected. No but for real..... WHAT.
That caught me off-guard. And, they sensed it. However, the brunette seemed to be agreeing to the proposal and it certainly benefited me.
"You shall give me a room suited for me? And will not trick me? I want to remind you I do not hold back in punishment..."The eyed eachother, and I waited to see the hesitation, the reluctance, but I deciphered none.
So, they actually seem to... admire me?
"I'm afraid I am unable to teach you. However, I would like to accompany you too to get away from here."
The magician threw his hand up in the air,"Yeah! I knew she'd say yes!" And then in a whisper "she's pretty cool alright..."
The brunnete countered:"She was about to say no though..."
"No matter. So, will you let us out of this... beautifully created cage?"
"Oh... uhm.... Fine"
I draw back the vines and heal them both slightly, so they do not complain later.
"Woah! You- you can heal?"
... i forgot i wasn't supposed to.
"Well... yes... don't ask questions... show me to your boat"
He grumbled, unsatisfied to his accomplice/ ex-enemy,"I want her to trust me already! Oh, also, i know you don't forgive me for stealing imperial keys... yet... so uhm sorry?"
Awh, they're cute.
If I look back, I already lived many lifetimes so my age would be way above anyone else who can possibly be alive right now... and everything seems pointless. So, seeing people fuss over such unimportant quarrels is quite cute.
—
"You both haven't told me your names."
I already knew of course, but I had to trust them.
" I am Ditran Sogtarn and he's Cassius De Helm"
"..."
Their faces turned surprised,"Aren't you going to tell us your name?"
"It shouldn't matter, but its Jeong"
"From... your past life?" Wow, he caught on quick.
"I underestimated you, well, yes.Now show me to your ship".
Now satisfied, I carefully removed the robe covering my head and Heard their gasps of surprise.
"Ugh.Don't stare too much, you might just start to salivate."
This is why I don't particularly like male attention, or any attention at all. It never leads to anything good. I don't want to be with the male leads, who lead me to my death so many times, but if it will help me run away, I'll gladly do so.
Turning my own attention from them as we trod in the direction of their ship, I finally let myself relax a little. If anything happens; they can deal with it and I'll just rest a while. I turn off. It's what I sometimes do. I'm there, but I'm not. I act, but I don't remember it. If I do this for a little bit, I might just rest enough for the travels.
Now, in the harbour, in the dappled light of the olive trees, are the sweetest hues of blue and green, the hues that give such life to my daydreaming.
I sometimes hear a footstep of those boys in front of me, but other times I hear a sparrow flying above. It is all quite peculiar.Just when they start to notice, I return.
Authors note: woaaaaahh this chapter is quite long huh(in my terms.) I want to thank you all for actually reading this? I thought I would just write something and laugh at it doing really badly, but somehow, someway, I have 1.8K VIEWS WHAT?!
I think the hardest part for me is either writing who is saying what and making that clear, or thinking of names. Of course I had to use Azriel from Acotar.
