Chapter 20

Dani's P.O.V

I'm in a forest like place. There's a long path leading down to something I can't even see, in this blinding sunlight. The sun seems to get even brighter, as the path goes on. Tall trees go in a line down each side.

The place isn't familiar, and I feel lost. Until a woman slowly appears towards the end of the path. She has long, wavy, auburn colored hair, and carmel brown eyes. She smiles, so genuine and sweet, that I find myself walking towards her.

"Dani!" She says in a musical voice. "Look how much you've grown!" She opens her arms wide, and comes towards me. She embarces me in a hug.

I have no words, yet I find myself trusting this woman. Like I know her somehow. And I find myself hugging back, as well.

Her touch is cold, like......like.......

someone I know.........

And soon she pulls back.

"Oh bella mia!" She says, eyes watering. "I wish I could be with you, I really do." 

"Why can't you?" I surprise myself by saying. She shakes her head.

"I just....can't. But I want you to have something." She says, and I wait for her to give it to me. But she doesn't.

"What is it?" I ask.

"It's not here. You have to get it. It's in the attic, in the box labeled Special Things. Look for the blue and gold box. Take what's inside, and keep it. If your father asks why you have it, say that you want to remember me. Understood?" I nod.

"But will I ever see you again?" I ask, feeling sad. I don't know why, but I feel a connection to this lady.

She smiles. Then she kisses my cheek, and turns around. She starts to walk down the blurry, sunny, path.

"Wait!" I call. No answer. She keeps walking."Waaaiiittt!!!" Keeps walking. And soon, she dissappears.

"Wait." I whisper. Then I feel myself start to fade..........

"Mom!" That was the first word I blurted when I woke up. I sat up. "Mom." I repeated.

Mom.

That was my mother.

All of a sudden, I burst into tears. Sobs escape my mouth, and tears stain my cheeks.

"Wait!!" I call to her, like in my dream. "WAIT!!!!" But there was no answer. Just an echo of my voice. And there was no way I would be able to get what she had for me. It was at home, after all.

It took me a while to realize, that I was no longer outside. I was inside.

In fact, I was in a house.

Harry's house.

I scramble up, and almost fall over, my legs weak. I grip the arm of the couch, and look around for any sign of Harry or the boys.

No one.

Good. So I had time to escape again. I look for the door, and when I find it, I dash towards it. But just as I did, I was grabbed from behind by cold, strong, arms, and pulled back on the couch. My head is spining, and my heart is racing. I glance up, and see Harry frowning down at me. I look away, tears rolling down my cheeks.

"Are you crazy?!" He says, looking really mad.

"No." I whisper. "Just trying to save myself."
