Chapter 9

Dani's P.O.V

How did he know? How did he know what I was thinking? I gulp. Just then, and that vey moment, my legs gave out. I fell weakly, and Harry quickly caught me.

"Are you ok?" He asks. No. I wasn't. But I wasn't gonna say that, either.

"F-Fine" I stammer. He carries me over to my bed, setting me down on it. My eyes close, and the weakness I had felt before, came back to me. A feeling of faintness, and the thought that every living thing was far away, came to me.

But Harry felt close.

Closer to me then anything. Like he decided if I lived or died. Confusion stirred up insdie of me. And, I don't know what made me say this, but I said it.

"Harry.........."

"I'm right here, love." He says. And I was shocked he had answered me. Because I thought I had thought that. Hadn't I? Oh wait, did I say it? Say what?

I was so off at the moment. I felt like I was gonna faint. If I hadn't already. Had I?

"Dani! What's wrong??!!!" Harry sounds alarmed, now.

"Harry..........."

"I didn't go anywhere."

"Where is everything?" I asked him drosily. Why was he the only thing I could see?

"What do you see, Dani??" Harry asks me worriedly. 

"You....." I say weakly.

"Anything else??" He sounds annoyed and impatient, now.

"No." It was that one word that put him over the edge. He panicked. Although, I don't know why, because he didn't care about me, right?

While I was thinking about all of this, he was muttering things under his breath. I could see him pacing. I could see him. ONLY him.

"Oh gosh!! It's happening already!! She doesn't even know!! What am I gonna do? She's gonna wonder what's going on, and I can't explain now, it's not the right time! I need to tell her when the time comes, but what if it's too late? Oh, no! What am I gonna do????!!!!!"

His alarmed voice worried me. It made me panic. He was worried, so I was worried. These new feelings confused me.

"Harry?" I asked him.

"Hm?" He seemed to snap back into reality, out of the loud thoughts that conflicted me.

"What's going on?" I asked him, scared to find the answer. He sits down on the bed next to me, and starts to gently stroke my hair. He didn't answer. I tried to move, but found it too difficult. So I stayed put.

"I can't tell you, right now. But soon you'll find out, I promise. I just.....can't see you for a while." He looked disappointed, but then quickly forced a smile onto his face. "Good for both of us, right?" I don't reply. He sighs. "Goodbye, Dani."

"Bye Harry........"  More confusing feelings and thoughts ran through my head. New ones knocked on the side of my brain, begging to come in. And they did. Making me feel weaker. And desperate. Desperate.......

to see Harry.

I wanted to be with him. But wait-I hated him! Right? Or did I love him? I think I loved him.

Ah ha. Nice, Dani. Nice.

Goodnight voice!

Goodnight, Dani. Sweet dreams.........

And then everything just kinda faded into a nice black ditch.

"Dani! Dani! Wake up! Oh Dani, please be alright!"

"Harry??"

"Dani! Who's Harry? Wake up, rockstar! Please wake up!! Open those beautiful eyes!!!"

I slowly opened my eyes. Where was I? I glanced around, and jumped when I saw my father's worried face, in mine.

"Dani!!! You scared me!!!" He says.

"Dad?"

"Yes, Dani. It's me."

"Where am I? What happened?"

"Well.....uh.....you kinda blacked out. You didn't look to good either." He looks nervous, a wreck. I wondered how bad I looked. Just then, a loud buzzing noise came, and I realized where I was. The sounds and scene said it all. Buzzing, footsteps, wheels, beeping, soft talking, clinking bottles, and a few alarmed voices coming from outside. And, of course, big machines, cabinets, the fact that I was on a bed, 'get well' stickers on the cabinet doors, a big friendly window with flowers under it. Yup. You guessed it.

A hospital.

I hated  hospitals.

"Dad!!! Why did you bring me here??!!!" Hospitals means tests, and tests means needles, and needles means sharp points tearing into my delicate flesh, and taking out presous blood.

I hated needles.

"Sorry rockstar! I panicked! If you were me, then, you would have done the same thing. I'm your father. I have to do what's best!"

"Doing what's best doesn't mean bringing me to a needle and jail institution with flowers and sunshine. It means keeping me away from my fears!! This is one of them, that you've unavoided!" I say angrily.

"Sorry!! But I needed to make sure that you were ok!" I sigh, angrily.

"Can I leave now, now that you know I'm ok?." I say hoping for a yes. But to my disappointment, he shakes his head.

"Sorry, rockstar. But they need to run a test in little while." My eyes widened.

"What??!! But I'm fine!!! Look at me! I'm awake!!! We can leave now!!!"  There was no way that they were gonna get a sharp pointy thing anywhere near my skin. Just thinking about it made me wanna faint.

"Look rockstar, if you can convince the nurse that you're fine, then we can leave. But I'm warning you, she's stubborn. Wouldn't give in when I tried to convince her not to give you pain meds. Those usually make you go delirious. I guess you're fine though. Trust me on one thing, the nurse knows best."

"I'm NOT having any needle, touch my skin!" I warned him. He sighs. Just then, the nurse comes in.

"Dave, can I speak to you?" She asks.

"Sure." He says. The nurse looks at me like I'm some disgusting disease.

"Alone......." She nods towards the door, and both of them leave, Dad saying on the way

"I'll be right back, Dani. Grown up business." That's what he used to tell me when I was younger. "Grown up" business. He didn't need to still use that phrase. I was almost an adult. But, I just nod, and they disappear out the door, the nurse closing it roughly behind her.

I was half expecting Harry to come out of no where, but he didn't. And then I remembered what he had said. Before I fainted.

"I just.......can't see you for a while."

But why? Not like I cared.

"Good for both of us, right?"

No! I wanna see you!!  I wanted so badly to scream. But I didn't. Because I wanted to hate him. I needed  too.

But I couldn't.

And that was the problem.
