Chapter Seven: Lady in Pink- 1995

The Great Hall was ablaze with floating candles. Hundreds of footsteps were heard clammering against the stone floors as everyone went to find their house table.

Ginny, Kate and I go off to Gryffindor together and find Harry, Ron, Hermione and Neville.

Just as I'm about to take a seat next to Hermione, a Hufflepuff comes up to me. "Camila!" The Hufflepuff girl yells at me excitedly.

I smile widely and give her a tight hug. "Sophie!" We stay in our hug for a good ten seconds before pulling away. "Dude I'm so sorry I couldn't hang out this summer, things went a little werid." I tell my friend.

"Oh it's okay, my parents mentioned you guys wouldn't be available." She smiles. Sophie Finch's family and my family have been close forever. Sophie and I kind of grew up together, but we tend to stay in our own circles during the schooo year.

"I'll see you around though, maybe we can go grab a butterbeer this week?" I ask Sophie, giving her hand a squeeze.

"For sure." She smiles and kisses my cheek before going off to the Hufflepuff table.

When I sit down I see Kate smirking, Ginny trying not to laugh and Hermione scowling. "Uhh what's up?" I ask them.

"Oh nothing." Kate laughs.

"Uhhhh..." Hermione says.

"Hermione here was glaring at your friend. Especially at the part when she kissed your cheek." Ginny smiles widely.

"I- no I wasn't, I-"

Cuppy cuts her off. "Lies lies lies."

"Hey! What do you know?" Hermione looks at her surprised.

Kate smirks at her with a raised eyebrow. "I know EVERYTHING Granger."

"Fuck." I say.

"What?" They all look at my confused.

"Umm... fuck." I say again.

"Words, Love. You need to use your words." Hermione tells me.

"That toad..."

"Huh?" Ginny looks around. "I don't see a toad anywhere?"

"No no, toad woman. At the head table."

The three of them whip their heads around to the front. "Oh ugly one with the pink?" Ginny asks as I shake my head.

"What about her?" Hermione asks.

"She was at Harry and I's hearing." I say darkly. "She's a ministry worker. She's Fudge's right hand woman."

All of their faces fall when they realize what's happening. "So, Hogwarts is being infiltrated by the ministry." Hermione's voice shakes. "Fudge really doesn't want Dumbledore unwatched."

"Camila! It's that Umbridge woman!" Harry says from the other side of Hermione.

"I know, I saw." I tell him. Our conversation gets cut off by McGongall leading the first years across the hall and up to where the sorting hat is.

In time of old when I was new
And Hogwarts barley started
The founders of our noble school
Thought never to be parted:
United by a common goal,
They had the selfsame yearing,
To make the world's best magic school
And pass along their learning.
"Together we will build and teach!"
The four good friends decided
And never did they dream that they
Might someday be devided,
For were there such friends anywhere
As Slytherin and Gryffindor?
Unless is was the second pair
Of Hufflepuff and Ravenclaw?
So how could it have gone so wrong?
How could such friendship fail?
Why, I was there and so can tell
The whole sad, sorry tale.
Said Slytherin, "we'll teach just those whose ancestry is purest."
Said Ravenclaw, "We'll teach those whose Intelligence is surest."
Said Gryffindor, "We'll teach all those
With brave deeds to their name."
Said Hufflepuff, "I'll teach the lot,
And treat them just the same."
These differences caused little strife
When first they came to light,
For each of the four founders had
A House in which they might
Take only those they wanted, so
For Instance, Slytherin
Took only pure-blood wizards
Of Great cunning, just like him,
And only those of sharpest mind
Were taught by Ravenclaw
While the bravest and the boldest
Went to daring Gryffindor.
Good Hufflepuff, she took the rest,
And taught them all she knew,
Thus the Houses and their founders
Retained friendships firm and true.
So Hogwarts worked in harmony
For several happy years,
But then discord crept among us
Feeding on our faults and fears.
The Houses that, like pillars four,
Had once held up our school,
Now turned upon each other and,
Divided, sought to rule.
And for a while it seemed the school
Must meet an early end,
What with dueling and with fighting
And the clash of friend on friend
And at last there came a morning
When old Slytherin departed
And though the fighting then died out
He left us quite downhearted.
And ever since the founders four
Where whittled down to three
Have the houses been united
As they once were meant to be.
And now the Sorting Hat is here
And you all know the score:
I sort you into Houses
Because that is what I'm for,
But this year I'll go further,
Listen closely to my song:
Through condemned I am to split you,
I still worry that it's wrong,
Though I must fulfill my duty
And must quarter every year
Still I wonder wether sorting
May not bring the end I fear.
Oh, know the perils, read the signs,
For our Hogwarts is in danger
From external deadly foes
And we must unite inside her
Or we'll crumble from within.
I have told you, I have warned you...
