CHAPTER THIRTY-NINE
"Jash! Watch your steps!" I shouted because Jashiel was rushing down the stairs with incredible speed. I looked at Camille who was drawing something on her sketch book. When our eyes met, I gave her a sarcastic look. "Camille? Will you help me or not?"
"Sorry, My!" She stood up to block the door to prevent Jash from slipping.
I sighed and carried her. Of course, I can feel her excitement for today. I mean, who wouldn't be? Darren's coming home after five years. He's lymphoma free after all the years we've spent. He made us go back to the Philippines a year after his chemotherapy ended. I visit him twice every year and I would often stay there for at least two weeks, but I didn't have the chance to visit him after two years since I became busy with the company, the resort, and our daughters.
He took engineering first before becoming a pilot. When I went to the company, the employees there clapped their hands and I saw Darnell standing in the middle with his annoying grin while clapping. That man really wanted me to have some entrance.
"Slow down, Jashiel, you don't want to show your father a wound, right?" I asked her and she nodded.
"Sorry, Mama. Just excited to see Papa," she said and kissed me on the cheek.
"Shut up, Iñigo," Kael said and glared at him.
"Hi," I said and Kael smiled at me. "How's the resort? I heard you and Celine stayed there for two weeks, am I right?"
Ever since we left, Kael was the one who ran the resort every time he has a day off in his other projects. Sometimes, Ate Janine and my annoying brother will be there since it already opened five months after I came back here. I visit the resort every month, and as far as I know, it's going well, just how I wished it to be.
My friends helped me catch up on all the events in their life. Two months after I went home here, Kate and Julius decided to finally get married. Yana gave birth to their son, Achilles, then Katelyn to their daughter, Cate. Many events happened in the first two years after we got home. I enrolled Camille in a Catholic school, while I taught Jash at home before I enrolled her in the kindergarten department of Saint Mary's. I also observed that Camille loved art, especially when it comes to designing clothes, while Jash likes to read and read and read.
"Missed me so much? Kakikita lang natin last Saturday," Kael said and laughed.
I rolled my eyes. "Miss my face, Alexander."
Iñigo looked at us both. "Nagkikita kayo?"
"So?" Kael sarcastically said, making me laugh.
Kael is already engaged with Celine. He said that they will only get married when everyone's here— when Darren's already here. I met Celine a lot of times. We became friends immediately. She's a funny person and a positive-thinker. Sometimes, if we're left alone, we talk about Kael and the funny and embarrassing moments in his life. Kael and I are friends, best of friends like when we were in college, and I'm happy that things are finally settling down.
