CHAPTER TWENTY

Our workload was heavier than before after that night. Sunod-sunod ang exams at quizzes namin at performance tasks. I wonder if all schools are like this? I mean depende naman 'yon sa mga teachers, hindi ba? It's okay for me to have school works but I guess not in one blow. Hindi naman kaya ng mga estudyante kung isang bagsakan lahat lalo na kung sobrang konti lang ng time span para magawa 'yon.

Mas naging busy din ako lalo na ngayong first week ng November. I am asked to go to the Luna's and Asian's para ihatid ang isang letter galing sa Principal namin at ilang documents. Iniisip ko na bakit pa ako ang inutusan kung pwede namang si Kuya Fritz since siya ang SSG President? Pero 'di na rin ako nakatanggi at ang rason naman nila sa 'kin ay dahil daw marami akong kakilala roon.

"Ma'am, bawal po ba talaga akong sumama?" Kael asked our principal for the nth time. He was insisting this question ever since I told him that I am about to go to LCU and AU since they ordered me to. Hindi niya na talaga tinigilan si Principal Carly sa katatanong kung pwede siyang sumama o hindi at ilang beses na rin niyang narinig ang pag-hindi ni Principal.

"Kael Alexander Madrid, 'wag kang makulit. I told you si Elle nalang ang pupunta," Principal Carly said and massaged her forehead.

Ngumuso si Kael at kumunot ang noo niya. "Hala, paano po kung biglang makalimutan ni Elle 'yung daan pabalik dito? Sino pong maghahatid sa kanya? Sinong magiging guide niya?"

Natawa si Principal Carly at umiling kay Kael. "Bakit siya maliligaw? She's with one of the top students of LCU! May kasama naman siya so don't worry!" Napailing nalang din ako at kinurot si Kael sa likod niya na dahilan ng pagsigaw niya.

"Eh bakit hindi ako ang pwedeng sumama sa kanya?" Kael asked her, feeling a bit irritated and persistent. "Sino 'yung kasama niya?"

"Diaz, Angelo Valdez, Mr. Madrid. Okay ka na?" Our principal said and shifted her gaze to me. "Angelo's waiting for you at the lobby, Elle. Umalis ka na."

What? Si Angelo? Akala ko si Darren? Sabi niya may pupuntahan din siyang universities ngayong week? Was he assigned to different schools? I mean Angelo and I are cool but we're not that close so why him? I don't have any problems with him but I really expected that I would be with Darren today.

Just deliver the letter and documents, Elle. Ide-deliver mo lang, for goodness' sake!

Kael sighed and I laughed at him. He looks so defeated like he lost in a bet. "Looks like my charm cannot persuade our principal, huh?" Kael said and laughed as soon as we walked outside of the faculty room.

"Hindi naman kasi effective," I said. Napatigil siya sa paglalakad at kumunot ang noo sa sinabi ko. What? I'm just telling the truth! Nakita ko kung paano nag-iba ang ekspresyon niya, parang naguguluhan na natatawa.

"Hindi effective ang charms ko sa 'yo?" He asked me and smirked afterwards.

My eyes widened. He got the wrong idea. "No! No! What I meant was your charms weren't effective to Principal Carly! You didn't persuade her that much. If I were her, I wouldn't be persuaded either."

"Ah okay, linawin mo kasi," he said and flashed a mocking grin on his face. He's even whistling while we head to the lobby and it made me think that he's teasing me. Sa inis ko ay hinampas ko sa kanya ang dala-dala kong folder at envelope. "Sadista ka masyado!"

"Then stop mocking me kung ayaw mong masaktan!" I yelled. Mabuti nalang talaga at walang tao rito sa lobby! Nakakabwisit talaga 'yung mukha ni Kael ngayon, it's so obvious that he's mocking me! Ta's magrereklamo siya kung sinaktan ko siya? Baliw lang?

Inirapan ko siya at naglakad na palayo sa kanya. I saw Angelo stood up as soon as he saw me. "Hey," he said and smiled casually at me.

"See you later, Pikachu!" I heard Kael shouted before leaving the lobby. Pikachu? What the fuck? How dare him compare me to a Pokémon who generates electricity! Do I have a bolt-sized tail on the back?
