We arrived at a park on a secluded beach.
"Here we are!" He cheers.
I got out of the car and looked around. It was a beautiful place: half grass and half sand. The trees made for a lot of shade on the grass and the sand was white and full of unbroken seashells. The wind blew from the ocean and it smelled like salt water; it reminded me of home-- San Diego.
Mikey opened up his arms and absorbed the suns rays. "What do you think?"
"I love it." I smiled as I face the sun to feel it's warmth.
We walked over to the tree where a tire swing was tied to one of it's branches. I sat on the swing and Mikey watched.
"So how'd you know about this place? It seems like it's hard to find and there's not many people here for it being Saturday." I asked.
"Me and the boys used to hang out here when we were little. Ashton's dad would take us, but that was before he left." He pointed over at a large field, "we used to play football there everyday after school. We had some good memories."
"Aww that's cute," I teased. I didn't want to ask about Ashton's dad, but I wondered what happened.
"I guess," he replied all cool, "but we don't come out here much now that we started the band."
"That's too bad. It's great out here!" I swung even higher on the tire swing.
"So enough about me, what was your life like back in America?" He asked.
"Normal. I don't have anything interesting to say. What do you want to know?" I dragged my feet to stop.
"Well, I don't know. Did you have a boyfriend back home... What's your family like..."
"Woah, get at my life much?" I joked.
"You and your American slang," he laughed. "Get at your life? I don't understand."
"Neither do I," I laughed, "but you're asking a bunch of personal stuff, and the answers are No and my family, they're great at times and other times I just want to rip out my hair. I still love them though."
"So no to the boyfriend... I see," he began thinking. "Why not?"
"What do you mean why not?" Where was he going with this?
"Like why didn't you have one, you seem like a nice person?" He was interested in the topic.
"I didn't choose to not have one, no one really asked or had an interest in me. It takes more than just being a 'nice person' to have someone like you; you have to have the looks and everything else. I don't have that." I hated this topic. "Plus, I've decided I have other priorities."
"I think you're enough... You're more than good enough for anymore." He sounded sincere.
"Thanks," I nodded.
It had already been hours since we've got there. The conversation began to die out and it was getting late.
"What time is it?" I asked.
"6:49," he looked at the time on his phone. "Are you ready to head back?"
I nodded.
He dropped me off, "I had a great time hanging out." I looked at him and gave him a quick peck on the cheek. I got out of the car--
"--actually, you mean you had a great time on our 'date'," he smiled cutely like a little bunny.
"Sure..." I laughed.
He drove off. I walked towards the house door and before I could stick my key in the lock, it opened. I was startled.
"Ooo... Where have you been?" Calum lifted his brow and grinned.
"Move." I make my way through the door. "What are you doing here?"
"I was going to see if you wanted to hang out with me and Ashton--"
I look over at the sofa and Ashton was sitting there playing FIFA. I think was going to have an anxiety attack! He waved, then focused back on the screen mounted on the wall.
I interrupted, "--obviously I wasn't home, why didn't you guys leave?"
"We didn't think you'd be gone so long... With Mikey," Calum teased.
I punch him hard in the arm.
"We were just hanging out," I said defensively.
Calum just smirked. "So now that you're here, FIFA?" He handed me a controller.
