It's been weeks since graduation and now I'm finally off to Australia. I can't believe I'm leaving... YAY!
I hadn't seen my friends lately though, and I was really disappointed that I wasn't able to say goodbye. I hadn't talk to that one guy since the party either, what's his name... Ashton? He gave me his number but I never thought to actually call or text him. He seemed nice, but I had my future to think about.
"Sherry Jane! Hurry up, you're going to miss your flight!" yelled my mom from across the house.
"We still have 3 hours before check in!"
"So? There might be traffic, or a long line at the airport. Anything could happen to make you late!"
"It's 3 in the morning mom! No ones up right now!"
I rushed to finish packing up the last of my things, then suddenly the doorbell rang. I went to open it and there were all of my friends, standing in front of my door to say goodbye. I was really hoping to avoid the waterworks.
We group hugged.
"We're going to miss you."
"Don't forget to keep us updated."
"Can I have some of your clothes?"
I wiped away the tears and replied back to all of them, "I'll miss all of you guys too... A lot. Of course! And you guys keep me updated too, and Michelle, no." We all laughed and ended the sobbing- it was time for me to catch my flight.
My family and I made it to the airport early.
"You know after this, your mother and I can't go past the check point," teared my dad, "you'll be all on your own."
"Don't worry I'll be fine. I won't be on my own once the plane lands, I'll have auntie Agnes and uncle Kenny."
"Just make sure you stay safe and take good care of yourself."
I was near the front of the line of the check point; I could feel my stomach turn. Soon I was going to be away from my parents. I never thought I'd be sad to leave them. I had always been excited to be on my own, but now that the time has come, It's not what I expected; I'm leaving behind everything and starting all over.
I looked at my parents, "I will, I promise."
I walked through security and waved my last goodbye to the ones who raised me. I was off to start a new chapter of my life.
