T1 • Chapter 14: The Surplus Raishin

Teressa had said the real Raishin is colder than his project thoughts. I can now clearly see why she said that. Agad akong sumunod rito. Pumasok siya sa elevator at nagpapasalamat ako dahil hinintay niya akong makapasok.

"You are very inconsiderate," I groaned.

"I think I have the right," mabilis na sagot nito. Hindi ako makapaniwala sa sinabi niya kaya tumingin ako rito.

"Your reason is very unreasonable," wika ko at may diin pa ang bawat salita. He seems unbothered, and I can really understand now that he is real.

"Why? Did I ruin your dreamland?"

I scoffed when he said that. Hindi ko maintindihan ang punto niya kaya mabilis na lumabas ang inis ko. "Ito ba talaga gusto mong pag-usapan natin? Hindi kita maintindihan. This is where you and your project thoughts differ."

"I guess you already know how to distinguish one from another. Most people didn't really bother," Raishin said without a hint of emotion. Inikotan ko nalang siya ng mata. He just ruined my mood, lagi nalang.

"Dahil hindi ka talaga marunong mag express. Loosen the grip, you are too firm," usal ko kaagad.

"If I can't control the situation, I will be depicted as a bearer of misfortune," Raishin whispered. What he said had double meanings, I cannot understand why but the way his voice went low as he said that made me regret why I was mad.

"Saan ka ba galing?" iyon na lang ang tinanong ko rito imbis na itanong sana kung ano ang pahiwatig niya sa sinabi nito.

"I listened to the words of the experts," my eyebrows narrowed, and I looked at him in confusion, "About our situation," agad rin na dagdag nito. He seemed serious at kahit hindi ko maintindihan, tinanong ko siya.

"What did you find out?" I remained calm and neglected the thought of nervousness as I waited for his answer.

The elevator rang, and the door swung open. I was looking at Raishin and not minding what we heard. I want to know his answer. Raishin looked at me, and for the first time, I saw a pair of deep blue eyes that flashes a trace of both despair and hatred. But after a moment he closed his eyes and turned his face in front.

"What did you find out?" I asked him again.

"Let's just say it is classified." Pagkatapos niyang sabihin 'yon ay lumabas siya habang iniwan niya ako sa loob at nasa proseso ng pagka inis dahil ginawa niya lang akong tanga, at nababalot ng kuryosidad. Ilang beses akong nagpakawala ng buntug-hininga bago ako lumabas at nilandas ang pasilyo ng aming palapag.

If his purpose is to keep it as a secret, why make me curious? Oh, goodness. Hanggang nakarating ako sa paanan ng pintuan ng apartment ko ay nagpakawala ako ng ilang buntog-hininga. Raishin was standing a meter away from my door, at masama akong tumingin sa kaniya. "I will tell you some other time. But for now, we must find the evidence of what really happened before Madeline Gajes's death."

Our lives are not chapters who have spoilers at the end. But, knowing Raishin and how he held back his words made me more curious to know more of it. Why does he always hide everything? And now, he wants me to focus on the case after spoiling me?

"May magagawa ba ako kung nagdesisyon ka na mismo?" tanong ko sa kanya.

"Marami pang mga araw, Mishanielle....at mayroon lamang tayong isang araw at kalahati para malaman ang nangyari sa pagkamatay ni Madeline. Kung ikaw ang papipiliin, saan ka papapanig?" What he said made my words rebounded. Iniwasan ko ang tingin nito at lumunok ng dalawang beses.

"Fine. I'll remember this." Sa huli, wala rin akong choice.

"When you want something, you'll find any means to get it. You can even neglect everything just to get what you want," Raishin uttered that made me look at him with an expression of displeasure.
