"And what now? pagkatapos ng isang malaking pagtatanghal, ano na ang gagawin ninyo?" I crossed my arms and arched one of my eyebrows as a sign that I am out of patience. Siguro, kung ibang tao ang pinaglaruan ng dalawang ito, nakatikim na talaga silang dalawa ng tig-iisang suntok, subalit nakakadismaya na ako pa ang narito.
"Well..." Detective Davien walked and reached his black tinted oven and opened it. He came back holding three brown folders containing a massive amount of paper. Is this?
"You hid that thought at the back of your head just to make sure I will not be able to guess where the file is," I heard Raishin said but my consciousness focused on the thought that he just hid the freaking files in a less-possible-place-to-look and gave me a burden of Raishin's unending theories.
"I tried my luck," Detective Davien answered and handed the files to my classmate, "All the data is detailed and there is no encryption. I already had a conclusion though I still have one piece missing. We already finished the investigation after Manuelo died, but we need to hold off and reschedule the appointment by the time Martez recovers from head trauma." I looked up at Detective Davien's face when I heard him say the name of one of the listed suspects.
"Nathaniel Martez had an accident?" I asked, and he just simply nodded.
"He fell off the stairs on the seventh floor of the Platinum Building when he was making rounds. Considering that he was one of the witnesses and a suspected nominee of the crime, Martez had a mild concussion and he just woke up yesterday."
I noticed Raishin ran his fingers to one of the brown folders and didn't even dare to pick up the information Detective just spilled, or maybe he already knew. "I know you are concerned about the suspect being on the loose. Don't worry, Misha, we hold them in custody and they are approved to be held until the case is over."
"Why would a suspect let itself be conquered when he or she already knew once you dig up Martez's statement, it's game over?"
"Because the suspect knew no evidence will fall since all the cases are suicide," it was Raishin who answered the most bugging question.
"Everyone who is involved in this case and their alibi is recorded, you can look it up in these." He handed Raishin two flash drives; one in gold and one in silver. Then Raishin plugged it on the computer on the office table. He started doing his job.
"Okay. First thing first. According to some cleared witnesses and students who knew the three, some of them stated Marta and Helena did something together illegally. I ran down some possible stuff and how illegal the work was and they all said the same thing..." pangunguna ni Detective Davien.
"Blackmailing." I noticed Raishin's eyes fixed on my direction as if I just spilled something he didn't expect to hear it from me.
He took something from his pocket, it was a palm size note. "Paano mo nalaman 'yon? But anyway, Yes, the two got a series of skeletons locked in their closets and guess what? it wasn't their secret, it was like half of the student body."
I immediately asked him, "How did they know Marta and Helena were blackmailing half of the students in Tertiary, or worse, the whole University?"
"They don't, it's a rumor and the first person who spread the gossip might have something to do with the case," Detective Davien answered.
"Kilala mo ba kung sino ang nagpasimuno?"
"That, Miss, is one of the easiest thing I got a hard time finding." Gusto ko sanang tumawa sa sinabi nito subalit nakalatay ang pagkadismaya sa balikat nito na animo ay buong gabi niyang hinahanap ang nagiisang ugat sa sandamakmak na pekeng ugat. I passed my eyesight to Raishin hoping he could spill some of his beans since Detective Davien feels disappointed.
