At the hospital. Next morning.

I saw Steve in front of the vending machine. He was looking for the flash drive he had hiding in there the other day. Too bad i took it out.

He saw me in the reflection of the glass.

I shot him a wink.

Cap grabbed me and pushed me against the wall "Where is it?"

I smirked "kinda hot how rough you are, Cap"

Cap shook his head "i am not playing. Where is it?"

Me "Safe "

Cap "Do better!"

Me "Where did you get it?"

Cap "Why would I tell you?"

I eyed him " Fury gave it to you. Why?"

Cap "What's on it?"

I shook my head "I don't know."

Cap growled out " Stop lying, Hayley!"

I hissed "i am not lying, Cap!"

Cap "Rumlow knew Fury hired the pirates, didn't he?"

Me " Well, it makes sense. The ship was dirty, Fury needed a way in, so do you."

Cap "I'm not gonna ask you again."

Me "I know who killed Fury, Cap. "

He looked at me surprised.

I looked down "They call him the Winter Solider. He's credited with over two dozen assassinations in the last fifty years."

Cap " So he's a ghost story. how do you know about him?"

I looked at him "Going after him is a dead end, Cap. You don't want that, trust me"

Then i held up the flash drive.

Cap grabbed the drive "Well, let's find out what the ghost wants."

At the mall. At a Mac store.

I put the drive into the computer "The drive has a Level Six homing program, so as soon as we boot up SHIELD will know exactly where we are."

Cap "How much time do we have?"

I shrugged "Uh...about nine minutes from... Now. Fury was right about that ship, somebody's trying to hide something. This drive is protected by some sort of AI, it keeps rewriting itself to counter my commands."

Cap "Can you override it?"

Me " The person who developed this is slightly smarter than me. Slightly. I'm gonna try running a tracer. This is a program that SHIELD developed to track hostile malware, so if we can't read the file, maybe we can find out where it came from."

An Apple  Employee walked to us "Can I help you guys with anything?"

I shook my head, fake smiling " Oh, no. My fiancé was just helping me with some honeymoon destinations."

Cap nodded " Right! We're getting married."

Apple Employee " Congratulations. Where do you guys thinking about going?"

Cap looked at the monitor "New Jersey."

The man nodded "I have the exact same glasses."

I fake laughed "Wow, you two are practically twins."

The man nodded "Yeah, I wish. Specimen. Uh...if you guys need anything, I've been Aaron."

Cap "Thank you.  You said nine minutes, come on."

Me "relax "

Then i froze when i saw where the signal was coming from "Wheaton, NJ"

Cap pulled me out "Let's go"

We walked through the mall.

Cap " Standard tac-team. Two behind, to across, two coming straight at us. If they make us, I'll engage, you hit the south escalator to the metro. "

Two men were coming our way.

I put my arm around Steve's middle and giggled while walking past the men.

We were going down the escalator.

Rumlow was coming up on the other side.

I turned to Cap and pulled him in for a kiss.

Cap put a hand on my hip and kissed back.

We got off the escalator.

Cap asked shocked "what was that?"

I smirked "why? are you complaining, Cap?"

Cap shook his head "not at all"

I smirked.

On the road.

We passed a "Welcome to New Jersey" sign.

Me "Where did Captain America learn how to steal a car?"

Cap " Nazi Germany."

I nodded "not bad"

Cap "And we're borrowing. Take your feet off the dash."

I took my feet off "Alright, I have a question for you, oh, which you do not have to answer. I feel like if you don't answer it though, you're kind of answering it, you know?"

Cap "What?"

Me "Was that your first kiss since 1945?"

Cap grimaced  "That bad, huh?"

I shook my head "I didn't say that."

Cap "Well, it kind of sounds like that's what you're saying."

I shook my head  "No, I didn't. I just wondered how much practice you've had."

Cap shook his head "You don't need practice."

I nodded "Everybody needs practice."

Cap "It was not my first kiss since 1945. I'm ninety-five, I'm not dead."

Me "and i'm  61 one, so what? Nobody special, though? "

Cap " Believe it or not, it's kind of hard to find someone with shared life experience."

I nodded "Well, that's alright, you just make something up."

Cap asked amused  "What, like you?"

I shrugged "I don't know. The truth is a matter of circumstances, it's not all things to all people all the time. And neither am I."

Cap "That's a tough way to live."

Me "It's a good way not to die, though."

Cap "You know, it's kind of hard to trust someone when you don't know who that someone really is."

I nodded "Yeah. Who do you want me to be?"

Cap " How about a friend? "

Me "Well, there's a chance you might be in the wrong business, Rogers."
