3 weeks later. At the Avengers compound. 

We walked out of the compound when we saw a ship landing.

Carol Danvers had landed the ship. 

Tony and Nebula walked out. 

I ran over to my brother and hugged him. 

He was weak and fragile but he hugged me back  "Hey, Hayles"

I breathed out relieved and in tears "hey, bro"

Steve walked over to Tony and grabbed him to support him.

Tony " Couldn't stop him."

Steve " Neither could I."

Tony "I lost the kid."

Steve "Tony, we lost."

Tony "Is, uh...? "

Pepper walked over to Tony, in tears and hugged him "Oh, my God! Oh, my God!"

Tony nodded "it's okay"

In the living room. 

Tony was sitting at a table, getting an IV for healing. He was pretty weak. 23 days in space without any food or water did a number on him. 

A holographic casualty report listed the names and faces of those lost to the Decimation.

I looked down when Bucky's face was shown. 

Rhodey "It's been 23 days since Thanos came to Earth."

Steve walked over to me and leaned against the table next to me.

Nat "World governments are in pieces. The parts that are still working are trying to take a census. And it looks like he did... he did exactly what he said he was gonna do. Thanos wiped out fifty percent, of all living creatures."

Tony " Where is he now? Where?"

Steve shook his head "We don't know. He just opened a portal and walked through."

Thor was sitting on the chair, deep in thoughts. 

Tony " What's wrong with him?"

Rocket "Oh, he's pissed. He thinks he failed. Which of course he did, but you know there's a lot of that's going around, ain't there?"

Tony "Honestly, until this exact second, I literaly thought you were a Build-A-Bear."

Rocket shrugged "Maybe I am."

Steve "We've been hunting Thanos for three weeks now. Deep Space scans, and satellites, and we got nothing. Tony, you fought him."

Tony "Who told you that? I didn't fight him. No, he wiped my face with a planet while the Bleecker Street Magician gave away the store. That's what happened. There was no fight."

Steve nodded " Okay."

Tony "He's unbeatable."

Steve "Did he give you any clues, any coordinates, anything?"

Tony shook his head, amused and obviously making fun of the situation "Pfft! I saw this coming a few years back. I had a vision. I didn't wanna believe it. Thought I was dreaming."

Steve "Tony, I'm gonna need you to focus."

Tony "And I needed you. As in past tense. That trumps what you need. It's too late buddy. Sorry. You know what I need? "
