a/n: new pov's today!!!

iris's pov

irenic. it means promoting peace. when sodapop convinced me to stay, i felt instant peace. as i entered my house and told my dad i was staying, he was ecstatic.

you could feel it radiate from him to you.

the only person happier than him was ponyboy. johnny followed closely. i knew i made the right decision. for once in my life, i didn't have any doubts.

soda and i have grown extremely close over the past 3 days. he's helped fully adjust to staying.

"iris?" "in here!" i called. soda, steve, and ponyboy walked into my room as i hung fake plants on the wall. "what's up?" i asked. "it's a saturday, let's do something," steve said. "in a little bit i need to hang these," i replied.

soda's pov

she was perfect. i was mad i let myself fall for her, i'm sure someone else in the gang already has, i wouldn't be a very good friend if i tried to take her from them. but that didn't mean i couldn't admire her.

"earth to sodapop," i looked at steve and he laughed. "you're drooling buddy," he whispered

"i am not," i rolled my eyes. "what'd you wanna do once i'm done?" iris asked. "well we could go to dingos and the drive in," ponyboy suggested. "sounds good to me, we'll be able too sooner if one of you help me," she said, clearly, not wanting to do everything on her own.

"tell me what to do," i said and she smiled at me, making me, immediately, smile back. she explained that i needed to hang up the rest of the fake plants, while she, hung up photos.

steve helped me, while ponyboy helped iris. i was distracted, i was too busy admiring her. "soda if you drop one more flower i swear to god," steve said. "sorry man," i said and hung the last two. i went up to ponyboy and he went to grab us all waters, steve went with him. "what's going on with you today?" she laughed. "nothing why?" i chuckled nervously.

"you seem nervous and jittery," she replied. "oh no i'm fine," i replied. i'm just busy, appreciating how beautiful you are.

iris's pov

"if you say so," i sighed and finished hanging the pictures. i sat next to him on my bed and started to fidget with the rings on my fingers.

"where are steve and ponyboy?" i muttered. "why? don't like to be in a room alone with me?" soda asked and i laughed. "i never thanked you," i said. "for what?" he asked. "getting me to stay," i replied. "it's not a big deal, we all wanted you too," he said rubbing them back of his neck. "stop being modest, you were still the one that got me too, so thank you," i said. "you're welcome," he replied.

we stared into one another's eyes, i studied his features, something i've never done before.

his greased hair fell elegantly over his forehead, his blue eyes complimented his tanned skin. his cheeks were always flushed slightly pink. he smiled his perfect smile, and i couldn't help but return the same grin plastered on his face. he was one of the prettiest guys i'd ever seen. he's handsome, but pretty suits him better.

third person

as they both admired one another, soda fell even harder for iris. every moment he spent with her, made him like her even more. although iris ignored the nagging feeling at her stomach, she knew she was developing feelings that were more than just friendship.

sodapop realized that iris's green eyes, had a hint of brown in them. iris realized, his blue eyes, showed all the emotion he was holding in. she wanted to ask, but was interrupted by the stomps coming up the stairs.

"sorry! we... forgot? where the water was, yeah we forgot," ponyboy said. "sure," iris laughed.

"let's go ask the others if they wanna go to the movie now!" ponyboy said. "ok ok we're going," sodapop said standing up and they all walked to the curtis residence.

steve's pov

as we made our way back to the curtis's, ponyboy talked to iris, soda talked to me. we were far enough behind them that i could openly ask soda about his new profound feelings.

"you like her don't you?" i asked. "iris? no we're just friends," he said. "last week you were just tolerating each other," i replied. "and?" he asked. "you've been staring down your brother for 5 minutes because he's talking to her, give it up you have feelings for her," i said.

"ok fine, what if i do?" he asked. "i'll never have a chance with her anyway,"

"soda, ponyboy and i walked in on you guys staring at each other in silence, it was a little weird to be completely honest, but you can see the....love? tension? i don't know i'm not good at this," i said. "ok so we stared at one another for a minute or two, no big deal," he sighed. "okay, whatever you say," i said dropping the subject.

we proceeded to go to dingo and jays, then the drive-in with the rest of the gang.
