Agent Hill takes us to a secret facility, she looks up as a doctor runs down the long corridor, "GSW. She's lost at least a pint."

"Maybe two." Sam says.

"Let me take her."

"She'll want to see him first." Hill takes us to another on...to see Fury who's alive and lying in bed.

"About damn time." We sit down, the Doctor starts to treat Natasha's wound. "Lacerated spinal column, cracked sternum, shattered collarbone, perforated liver, one hell of a headache."

"Don't forget your collapsed lung." The doctor speaks up.

"Oh, let's not forget that. Otherwise, I'm good."

"They cut you open, your heart stopped." Natasha says.

"Tetrodotoxin B. Slows the pulse to one beat a minute. Banner developed it for stress. Didn't work so great for him, but we found a use for it."

"Why all the secrecy? Why not just tell us?" Steve crosses his arms.

"Any attempt on the director's life had to look successful."

"Can't kill you if you're already dead. Besides, I wasn't sure who to trust." Fury nods.

Agent Hill picks up a small case, my eyes widen as I see the collar that Hydra out on me and some syringes. "No....no don't put that on me." I stand and back away. Steve gets up and stands in front of me.

"I'm not going to...I took this so it can't be used again." Agent Hill steps forward with the syringe. "This will stop what's happening to you." She points to it. "I promise I'm not trying to poison you."

I close my eyes and slow down my breathing, using my power to hear what she's thinking. "I trust you." I open my eyes.

She walks over and wipes my neck with something cold, she then tilts my head away, "This may hurt a bit." Steve holds my hand as she sticks the syringe in my neck, I squeeze his hand as the unknown medicine goes into my neck. The spot she stuck the needle in instantly heals when she takes it out. "Better?"

"Actually....yeah." I smile. "Thank you, Agent Hill."

"Call me Maria." She smiles and turns.

After awhile Fury gets up and sits at the table with us, he shows us a photo of Pierce, "This man declined the Nobel Peace Prize. He said, 'Peace wasn't an achievement, it was a responsibility.' See, it's stuff like this that gives me trust issues."

"We have to stop the launch." Natasha nods

"I don't think the Council's accepting my calls anymore." Fury opens a case containing three chips.

"What's that?" I ask.

"Once the Helicarriers reach three thousand feet, they'll triangulate with Insight satellites becoming fully weaponized."

"We need to breach those carriers and replace their targeting blades with our own." Fury nods.

"One or two won't cut it. We need to link all three carriers for this to work, because if even one of those ships remains operational a whole lot of people are gonna die."

Fury looks at Steve, "We have to assume everyone aboard those carriers is Hydra. We need to get pass them, insert the server blades, and maybe, just maybe, we can salvage what's left..."

"We're not salvaging anything. We're not just taking down the carriers, Nick, we're taking down Shield." Steve interrupts him.

"Shield had nothing to do with it."

"You gave me this mission, this is how it ends. Shield's been compromised, you said so yourself. Hydra grew right under your nose and nobody noticed." Steve says.

"Why do you think we're meeting in this cave? I noticed."

"And how many paid the price before you did?" I ask.

Fury sighs and looks at Steve, "Look, I didn't know about Barnes."

"Even if you have, would you have told me? Or would you have compartmentalized that too? Shield, Hydra, it all goes."

"He's right." Maria nods.

Fury looks at Natasha then at Sam and I. "Don't look at me. I do what he does, just slower." Sam nods.

"Well... Looks like you're giving the orders now, Captain."

Steve nods, I watch as he gets up and walks out. Sam and I look at each other and wait a moment to let him think.

We walk outside to see him standing on a small bridge, lost in thought.

I slowly walk up and wrap my arms around him. Steve smiles and turns, wrapping his arms around me and resting his chin on my head. "I'm lucky to have you." He whispers.

"You got that all wrong...I'm the lucky one." I smile.

"He's gonna be there, you know?" Sam steps up.

Steve looks up, "I know."

"Look, whoever he used to be, the guy he is now, I don't think he's the kind you save. He's the kind you stop."

Steve shakes his head, "I don't know if I can do that."

"Well, he might not give you a choice. He doesn't know you."

"He will. Gear up, it's time." He nods and looks down at me. I pull back as his hand rests on the side of my face. I pull his hand down and kiss it, walking off with him.

"You gonna wear that?" Sam asks, Steve turns and Smiles.

"No. If you're gonna fight a war, you gotta wear a uniform."
