Chapter 22 - Scepter

Over the next year, Thor had come back to help us take down the secret Hydra bases...the whole team got together. We were also trying to find the missing scepter.

I fly beside The team, Steve nods at me as he rides by on his motorcycle. I blast down at the soldiers, spinning through the air as Tony passes me. He flies right up toward the base, "Shit!" He yells as he hits a shield surrounding the entire base.

"Language!" Steve yells. "Jarvis, what's the view from upstairs?"

"The central building is protected by some kind of energy shield. Strucker's technology is well beyond any other Hydra base we've taken."

"Loki's scepter must be here. Strucker couldn't mount this defense without it. At long last." I smile as I land down next to Nat.

"At long last is lasting a little long, boys." Nat says to the others as she smiles at me.

"Yeah. I think we lost the element of surprise." Clint says

"Wait a second. No one else is going to deal with the fact that Cap just said language?" Tony asks.

I fly over and knock into some soldiers, "I know." Steve sighs, I watch as Steve throws his bike at some soldiers driving up in their truck. "It just slipped out." He looks over at me.

Suddenly something zooms up to us, I watch as a kid runs up and knocks into Steve, he looks at me confused, wondering how I can see him and zooms off. "We have an enhanced in the field." I say as I help Steve up.

"Clint's hit!" Nat yells

"Stark, we really need to get inside." Steve says.

"I'm closing in." Tony responds. I flip in front of Steve as a whole group runs up, I hold my hands out, my power flows around them like shockwaves, floating them in the air. I throw my hands down and they all go flying back. "Drawbridge is down, people."

Thor lands beside us, "The enhanced?"

"He's a blur. All the new player's we've faced, I've never seen this. In fact, I still haven't." Steve shakes his head.

"Clint's hit pretty bad, guys. We're gonna need evac." Nat says.

"I can get Barton to the jet. The sooner we're gone the better. You and Stark secure the scepter." Thor says to us.

"Copy that." Steve nods.

Thor looks in front of us, "It looks like they're lining up."

"Well, they're excited." Thor pounds on Steve's shield with his hammer and the resulting wave of force knocks down all the soldiers.

"Find the scepter." Thor flies off.

"And for gosh sake, watch your language!" Tony suddenly says.

Steve looks at me and sighs, "That's not going away anytime soon."

"Your kind of a hypocrite." I smirk.

Steve's eyes widen and he cracks his neck, "Let's go." He starts to run.

"We're locked down out here." Nat says.

"Then get to Banner, time for a lullaby." Steve says as I fly past him. I smirk as he finally meets me inside, "Not another word." He points, walking past me.

We turn to see a soldier, Steve runs forward and pushes him through a door. We stop as we see Baron Strucker.

"Baron Strucker. Hydra's number one thug." I put my hands on my hips.

"Technically, I'm a thug for Shield."

"Well then technically you're unemployed. Where's Loki's scepter?" Steve asks.

"Don't worry, I know when I'm beat. You'll mention how I cooperated, I hope."

"I'll put it right under illegal human experimentation. How many are there?" Suddenly Steve is knocked down by a women using powers. I shield myself and watch as she hurries off.

"We have a second enhanced. Female. Do not engage." I say as Steve rushes back to me.

"You'll have to be faster than-" Steve cuts Strucker off by hitting him with his shield

"Guys, we got Strucker."

"Yeah, I got... something bigger." Tony hesitates.

Steve and I make sure Strucker is taken care of, we then meet with the rest of the team and take off.

"Thor, report on the Hulk?" Nat suddenly asks.

"The gates of Hell are filled with the screams of his victims."
Nat glares at Thor and Banner groans in despair. "Uh, but, not the screams of the dead, of course. No no, uh...wounded screams, mainly whimpering, a great deal of complaining and tales of sprained deltoids and, and uh... and gout."

I punch Thor's arm, "Idiot."

"I've missed being in your company, sister." Thor laughs and puts an arm around me.

"I was finally at peace not being in yours." I joke. Thor looks down at me sadly, "I'm joking, Brother." I sigh.

We then look down at the scepter as Tony approaches us, "It feels good, yeah? I mean, you've been after this thing since Shield collapsed. Not that I haven't enjoyed our little raiding parties, but..."

"No, but this... this brings it to a close." I smile.

"As soon as we find out what else this has been used for. I don't just mean weapons. Since when is Strucker capable of human enhancement?" Steve asks.

"Banner and I'll give it the once before it goes back to Asgard. Is that cool with you?" Tony asks, Thor and I nod. "I mean, just a few days until the farewell party. You both are staying right?"

"Yes, yes, of course. A victory should be honored with revels." Thor smiles as Steve looks at me in confusion.

"Yeah. Who doesn't love revels. Captain?" Tony asks.

Steve finally looks away from me, "Hopefully this puts an end to the Chitauri and Hydra, so. Yes, revels."

I knew we were going to have a long talk when we got home.
