For the next couple weeks, Steve and I did everything together. But most of the time he had missions.

After Steve had yet another mission, He took me out to dinner and then took me to a museum. I still knew nothing about how he became Captain America...so luckily there was an exhibit that showed it.

I hold onto his hand as we walk into the large room, a smile was plastered on my face as I see pictures of him everywhere. "A symbol to the nation. A hero to the world. The story of Captain America is one of honor, bravery and sacrifice." The narrator says. I pull Steve to a small wall with picture..it showed Steve before the serum. "Denied enlistment due to poor health, Steven Rogers was chosen for a program unique in the annals of American warfare. One that would transform him into the world's first super soldier."

We turn as a boy recognizes him, Steve smiles puts his finger against his mouth to indicate for the boy to keep quiet and the boy nods. We walk over to some old footage of him.

"In this rare footage, everyone's favorite war hero, Captain America..."

Steve points aside and takes me to a large display of mannequins. "That's...that's Bucky. He always tried to flirt with me when I came to your apartment." I smile. "He was sweet."

"Battle tested, Captain America and his Howling Commandos quickly earned their stripes. Their mission, taking down Hydra, the Nazi rogue science division."

Steve then takes me over to the a display of Bucky Barnes.
"Best friends since childhood, Bucky Barnes and Steven Rogers were inseparable on both schoolyard and battlefield. Barnes is the only Howling Commando to give his life in service of his country."

I turn and hug Steve, "I'm so sorry."

Steve stays silent and rubs my back, "Why don't we head home."

"Home." I smile. "I like the sound of that."

He parks his motorcycle and holds my hand, telling me jokes as we walk up the stairs. I look up as I see Steve's neighbor shutting her door with a basket of clothes, on the phone with someone.

"That's so sweet. That is so nice. Hey. I gotta go, though. Okay, bye." She smiles at us and hangs up, "My aunt, she's kind of an insomniac."

Steve pauses for a moment, "Hey, if you want... you're welcome to use my machine."

"Thank you, but um...I already have a load in downstairs, and, uh...you really don't want my scrubs in your machine. I've just finished orientation in the infectious diseases ward, so."

"Ah, well, I'll keep my distance." Steve smiles.

"Well hopefully not too far." She smiles. "I don't think we've met yet." She smiles at me.

"Y/N Odinsdottir." I nod.

"Y/N is going to be staying awhile. She's my girlfriend." Steve puts his arm around me.

"Im Kate, it's lovely to meet you." She nods, "Have a good night." She turns. "Oh!" She turns back. "I think you left your stereo on." She points.

"Oh. Right, thank you." Steve nods.

I look up at him as she leaves. "Wait." I slowly step towards the door and put my hand on it. I close my eyes and listen, there were no thoughts inside but I could sense someone. "Window." I point.

We climb out onto the he fire escape and slowly open the window to his apartment, Steve walks ahead of me and picks up his shield. We walk along the wall, he peaks out he then relaxes.

"I don't remember giving you a key." Steve says.

I walk around the corner to see Fury sitting in a dark corner. "You really think I'd need one? My wife kicked me out."

"Didn't know you were married." Steve says.

"A lot of things you don't about me."

Steve sighs, "I know, Nick. That's the problem." Steve turns on the light, we then notice Fury's injuries for the first time, but Fury indicates for us to be silent.

He turns off the light and writes something on his phone and shows it to us; "Ears everywhere"

"I'm sorry to have to do this, but I had no place else to crash."

He writes another text and shows it to us; "Shield compromised"

"Who else knows about your wife?" I ask.

Fury shows us another text; "Just us."

"Just...my friends."

"Is that what we are?" Steve asks.

"That's up to you." Fury stands and walks closer.

Suddenly Fury is shot three times through the wall and collapses, Steve looks out the window for the shooter then he quickly drags Fury to the next room, before he leaves Fury hands him a flash drive. "Don't...trust anyone." Fury passes out.

"Fury?" I ask, trying to stop the bleeding. "Fury, wake up. Come on."

I turn as the door is being kicked down, I hold up my bloody hand to blast the person. I stop as I hear a familiar voice. "Captain Rogers?" We see Kate walking in with a gun pointed. "Captain, I'm Agent 13 of Shield Special Service."

Steve looks at her in shock, "Kate?"

"I'm assigned to protect you."

"On whose order?" Steve asks.

She pauses and notices Fury lying injured on the ground. "His." She kneels down next to him, then goes to her radio, "Foxtrot is down, he's unresponsive. I need EMTs."

"Do you have a twenty on the shooter?"

Steve stands, "Tell him I'm in pursuit." I look back as he rushes out the window.

I put my hand up to his head, "He's still alive but not for long. They need to hurry." I keep trying to stop the bleeding.

Steve and Natasha met up with me at the hospital, the doctors did everything they could.

He was gone.

This hit Natasha hard...she stood above him as Steve and I stood behind her....we didn't know what to say.

Agent Hill walks in, "I need to take him."

Steve goes over to Natasha, "Natasha." She doesn't respond, instead she tenderly touches Fury's head then turns and walks out, "Natasha!"

She stops in the middle of the hall as we follow her,
"Why was Fury in your apartment?"

"We don't know."

Another man comes up, "Cap, they want you back at Shield. Her too." He points at me.

"Yeah, give us a second." Steve nods.

"They want you now."

"Okay." Steve sighs and turns back to Natasha.

"You're a terrible liar." She turns and walks off.

I take off the clothes on me to reveal my armor, I turn as Steve does something to the vending machine and nods, walking off.

"Let's go."
