Chapter 34 - Bruce

The next morning I read from my mother's journal. I smile at all her drawings, stopping as I read a section I've never heard before.

I can freeze people in place?

I knew I could do mind control...but literally freeze people?

How do I even do that?

I kept asking myself this, reading further into the book. I look up as Thor steps in front of me. "What's that?"

"Mother's journal...Loki kept it for me. It's about my powers." I nod. I look down at the book then hold up my hand, forming my power in front of me. I place the book inside my power and circle my hand to close it.

"What was that?"

"Something I read in the book. Discovering new things about myself." I nod.

"She's coming, Hulk!" Thor yanks me up and pulls me aside.

"Angry girl!" Hulk rushes to her 

Valkyrie gives him a hug and starts play fighting with him.  "What's going on? What do you...?"  Hulk steps away, allowing Valkyrie to see Thor and I. Her smile disappears. She stares at Hulk, annoyed. "You're so thick-headed that you can't tell when someone's hiding all the way across the universe and wants to be left alone?"

"We need to talk." Thor nods.

"No, you want to talk to me." Valkyrie turns to leave.

"We need her to stay." I point.

Hulk grabs the top of his bed and throws it at the exit. "Stay!    Please?" He walks over and grabs a ball, throwing it at the wall.

She holds up the device to our disks and walks over to the bar, grabbing a large bottle of alcohol. "All right. Here's the deal. I'll
listen to you till this is empty."

She tips back the bottle and starts chugging. "Asgard is in danger and people are dying. We need to get back there. We need your help...wow." Thor says.

"Finished. Bye." She goes to leave.

"Odin is dead." I suddenly say. "Hela, the Goddess of Death has
invaded Asgard."

"If Hela's back then Asgard is already lost."

"We're going to stop her." Thor says.

"Just the two of you?"

"Nope. I'm putting together a team. It's us, you, and the big guy." Thor points.

"No team. Only Hulk."

"It's just us three." Thor nods.

"I think it's only you."

"The Valkyrie are legend, elite warriors of Asgard. You are sworn to defend the throne." I yell.

"I'm not getting dragged into another one of Odin's family squabbles."

"What's that supposed to mean?" Thor asks.

"Your sister. Her power comes from Asgard, same as yours. When it grew beyond Odin's control, she massacred everyone in the palace and tried to seize the throne. When she tried to escape her banishment, he sent the Valkyrie in to fight her back. I only survived because...Look, I already faced her once back when I believed in the throne, and it cost me everything. THAT'S what's wrong with Asgard. The throne, the secrets, the whole golden sham."

Thor moves towards Valkyrie and goes to put a comforting
hand on her shoulder. "I agree."

She snatches his hand, "Don't get familiar."
