We're in the car and on our way to my grandparents house. It's 8:30 in morning, I should text Jen that I reached great Britain. I didn't texted her after I landed when she had asked me to do. I'm so ridiculous. It's better I directly call her now. Her number dials on my phone and the ring goes.
"Hi!" Jen answers. She doesn't sound right.
"Hey!" I say.
"Did you reach yet?" She queries.
"Yes. Yes I did. We're about to arrive to my grandparents house soon," I answer.
"Okay," her voice is really low and she sounds tired.
Did she party last night?
"Are you okay? You sound different." I ask. That low voice of her is making me worry.
"Yeah, I'm fine. I just woke up," she says.
I don't believe what she said because she's not sounding sleepy at all. I can tell, even though it's a phone call still I know.
"You sure, you're okay," I ask again.
"YES, IM FINE," she speaks out loud this time.
I see that we're about to reach. And I need to hang up the call. Reluctantly.
"Alright Jen, we reached. I have to go now. I'll call you later."
"Okay. Bye," and she hangs up.
I feel a bit restless hearing her so lifeless. I hope she's fine like she said. The car pulls over in front of the house and we climb down from the car. As we walk to the entry of the house, we see Granny already standing at the door for us. She smiles wide looking at all of us. Dad goes and hugs her first and then we all do.
"Come in. Come in. Breakfast is ready. Let's devour it together," granny says, welcoming us inside.
"How's papa doing mum?" Dad asks.
"Oh! he's much better than before. Atleast, he can sit now to have his meal."
The breakfast table is occupied with full English breakfast. It's been long since I had an English breakfast. Before I used to have this breakfast twice or thrice in the week when I used to live here for my studies. Dad and mom finish with their breakfast first and get going to see my grandfather. Granny also goes with them but before that,
"Y'all finish everything that's on your plate," she warns us.
"Yes, Madam," Brian says saluting her. Leah laughs.
Granny grins, shakes her head and leaves. She always does this, she doesn't like anyone wasting food. And we respect her, so we finish our breakfast too. After a while, mom and dad comes out and tells us to go in. So me, Brian and leah we walk in to my grandfather's room. He's seated and grins as he catches sight of us three.
"Come, come my children," Dada says, helding is hand out.
Leah shoves us and runs to Dada. She jumps on his bed and hugs him.
"Oh! My little girl," he says with his most sweet and gentle old man's voice. Dada hugs her back. Then he glances at us.
"My boys," he mutters.
Brian goes forward first. "Come here, naughty one," Dada says and Brian hugs him. "All my girlfriends call me naughty, too," Brian pulls back and Dada laughs at what he said.
"How are you Dada?" I say and sit besides him.
"I'm fine son. I'm so happy to see you all."
And then granny walks in. "what chit-chat is going on?" She says, clasping her hands and sits besides Leah.
