Chapter 35: The Proposal

*The next morning Noelle wakes up and sees Asta shirtless*

Noelle:*To herself* So I wasn't dreaming then.

Asta:*Tightens his grip on Noelle's shoulder*

Noelle:Oh he is asleep still. I guess I could lay here a bit longer.

*Asta's face goes from a calm look to pain as he grunts in pain and grabs his chest*

Noelle:Asta!

Asta:*Wakes up from the pain and Noelle* Y-yeah what is it?

Noelle:Are you okay?!

Asta:Yeah its just my chest hurts from working out after last night.

Noelle:*Lays in top of Asta and lays her head down in his chest* You shouldn't overdo it sometimes okay?

Asta:Yeah I'm sorry about worrying you like that.

Noelle:*Listening to Asta's heart beat fast*

Asta:Noelle?

Noelle:*Tearing up a little bit* Asta?

Asta:Yeah?

Noelle:*Tightly and gently hugs Asta*Relax please..

Asta:I'm already relaxed.

Noelle:No your not. Your heart is beating at 30 miles per hour.

Asta:It's fine I just got spooked that's all.

Noelle:No that's not it. Where you having a nightmare?

Asta:N-no...

Noelle:I heard that hesitation. What was it about?

Asta:*Sighs* My nightmare was about how I lost everything...again.

Noelle:What do you mean?

Asta:I mean I lost you,mom,and everything else. Because once again I was too powerless to stop anything.

Noelle:*Puts her arms around Asta's neck* Well Asta there's something you need to know.

Asta:And what would that be?

Noelle:*Kisses him* Your not that same person you were a year ago. You're a lot stronger and you have friends and family who are really strong. Plus I'd never leave you. I love you too much to let you go at it alone.

Asta:*Starts to cry slightly* Noelle..

Noelle:Why are you crying sweetie?

Asta:*Pulls Noelle into a kiss then a firm embrace* I'm so glad I met you that day. Yeah even to this day I may still not be a good person,the best magic knight,the smartest,the kindest,or the softest but none of that matters anymore.

Noelle:Asta don't bash yourse-

Asta:Because if I'm good enough for you then I'm not doing such a bad job. Because I'm a peasant and your a royal.
But here we are. Both happy with who we are with and the person that they are.

Noelle:*Taken back by Asta's words and falling in love with him more than before* Asta..

Asta:I may have not been blessed with mana,a good childhood,loving parents, loving siblings,or a nice home but I sure was blessed with a great woman I can call my own.

Noelle:*Starting to cry tears of joy* Asta i...

*Acier and Vanessa are spying through the cracked door*

Asta:*Starting to do the same* So Noelle I have a question to ask you.

Noelle:Yeah?

Asta:I need to know your answer for this one alright.
