Weird Mothers Part 7

Richard opened the garden gate for Luzia and they both walked through. The family house was in the countryside, just outside of Fort William in Scotland. There was a little road from the house leading all the way down a field which then led to a main road and a park.

"Should we take my car to the park?" Richard asked.

"Too old to walk?"

"No-" Richard quickly said. "I just wondered if you'd want to take the car."

 "No, I wanted a walk. You can if you want."

"I'm fine." 

Luzia and Richard walked down the little road together. The weather way as sunny and warm as ever. There were birds flying in and out of trees and little squirrels eating acorns and wild berries. The little road was narrow and only just fit the pair of them walking side by side. On either side of road was hedges and little walls that only went up to Richards waist in height.

Luzia looked behind her and to the side of her. She wanted to make sure they were alone, apart from the animals, they were alone.

"Seen as we are alone, can I ask you something?" Luzia asked.

"Hmm."

"If you are a vampire, then why can't you fly like a bat?"

"It's a silly misconception. We do have special tricks though."

"Really? Like what?"

"We have better hearing than normal people and a better sense of smell."

"Cool, give me an example."

Richard stopped walking. He stood and listened.

"Well right now, I can hear the traffic on the main road, and the main road is probably a mile away if not more." 

"Interesting, all I can hear is you and birds whistling."

"Exactly, I can also smell...cow poo." Richard smiled.

Luzia laughed, "So can I"

They carried on walking for a while longer.

"Ooh, I can see the main road. That's near where the park is." Luzia shouted and pointed.

"Nice. Let's hurry and get there."

They continued to walk.

"Do you have any other special talents then?" Luzia asked.

"I guess so, I can move around quite quickly, but it's difficult to do most of the time, as I have to hide who I am in most social situations so I never do it."

"So, if you really wanted to, you could sprint from the house to the park?"

"Yes in probably 10 seconds."

"But yet you walked with me at normal speed?"

"Yes, I can't just run around and leave others behind."

"Couldn't you take me with you, by holding my hand or something?"

"Not really, I'd probably have to give you a piggy back or I'd have to carry you."

"You could have done that, I wouldn't have minded." Luzia smirked.

"Hmm yeah, but  it would be awkward if anyone saw me running a mile in 10 seconds though."

"Nobody is here, apart from birds and squirrels-"

"Yes, but you never know who might be watching" Richard told her.
