Lunch time rolled around quickly, Sarah unpacked both of her suitcases and tidied her belongs away. She put her clothes into her wardrobe, she put her shoes near the front door and she put some of her other belonging such as toiletries into the bathroom.
There was a knock on the door, it was Richard with Benji, Luzia and Penelope. None of the children looked necessarily pleased to be near Richard or to be visiting their mother in her new house. Sarah opened the door and let them in. None of the children spoke, they walked in silently and sat on the sofa. Sarah and Richard gave each other a look as if to say, 'what's wrong with them?'. Sarah allowed Richard to come in too and she then shut the front door.
"So, welcome to my new house." Sarah said. None of the children looked at her. "Aren't you all going to rush to hug me?"
"Tell us the truth." Penelope said. "Tell us about why you don't love daddy anymore."
"I do love daddy" Sarah told her.
"No, you love Professor Villarreal."
"Maybe I should leave you all to it, this seems to be a private family thing." Richard said.
"No, you can stay, tell them all the truth."
Richard was stood at the door when Luzia shouted that, he had his hand on the doorknob. He froze.
"What truth?" Richard said while still looking at the door."
"You know what I am referring to."
"What do you mean, Luzia?" Sarah asked while looking between her and Richard.
"She doesn't mean anything, I better go." Richard opened the door and left.
Luzia stood up and ran to the door, "TELL HER, TELL HER WHAT SORT OF MAN YOU ARE!"
Richard was stood facing the rest of the village, he didn't want to look at Luzia. "I have nothing to say." He said softly, but Luzia could hear.
"Please. Be honest."
"No." He continued to walk out of the front garden and away from the house.
"Please." Luzia shouted. "If you don't I will."
Richard continued to walk.
"Fine then."
Luzia went back into the house and sat down on the sofa between Benji and Penelope. Tears were rolling down her face.
Sarah closed the door and kneeled down in front of Luzia.
"What is it? What has he done."
"He hasn't done anything, it's what he is."
"What is he?"
Luzia didn't want to be the one that had to say it, but she couldn't expect Penelope to say it for her.
"He-he is more than just a man. He isn't alive."
"How does that work?" Asked Benji. "How can he be dead, but alive."
"He-he, he isn't what you think he is, mum."
"Then what?"
"If I tell you you'll tell Professor McGonagall, he could get into trouble if people find out."
"Just say it, Luzia. We will worry about Professor McGonagall later."
"He was bitten by a vampire when he was younger. He is a vampire, but he isn't a bad one. He is carful and he hides it from people, he isn't violent or anything."
