Vanessa Riddle Part 14

Benji was in his carriage with his 2 friends Timmy and Jimmy who were in their 4th year at school.

"Are you looking forward to your second year, Benji?" Asked Jimmy.

Benji shrugged, "I guess so, it sucks that Matty won't be here."

"I know-"

"You two don't blame me for him leaving do you?" Asked Benji.

"N-no. I just really wish that Liberty laid off him a little. Yes, your sister didn't help with the abuse he got, but you couldn't have done anything about it."

Benji smiled. I miss him too. Who do you think will be the new captain for Ravenclaw now Matty is gone?"

"I dunno. Apparently a boy who is in his 3rd year is the favourite for it in Ravenclaw. I don't know about Gryffindor or Hufflepuff." Said Timmy.

"Can I ask you guys 2 things?"

"Sure, Benji."

"Do you think I'll  get into the Ravenclaw Quidditch team this year? and Did you ever believe the rumours that Liberty Porter make up about Matty?"

"You enthusiasm for sure, have you ever flew a broom before?" Asked Jimmy.

"No, I only just got one a couple weeks ago."

"We can help teach you before the Ravenclaw Quidditch try outs." Timmy said.

"And the other question?"

"The rumours? No. I like to think that if they were true, Matty would have told us-."

"Yeah, we were 2 of Matty's best friends. I think if he was gay or something, he'd have informed us about it first."

"Hmm."

Benji didn't want to go deeper into that. He knew how Matty really felt about his sexuality and Benji didn't want to explain it all to Timmy and Jimmy without Matty's consent.

"Do you think Matty will ever come back to Hogwarts?"

"I'm not sure. We've sent him letters via owl and he has ignored them all." Jimmy told Benji.

"Hmm. I hope he is ok."

"Same."

There was a knock on the compartment door. It was Richard.

"Hello boys, get into your robes please." He said in a stern voice.

Richard quickly left before the boys could reply.

A couple of hours later, the children arrived at Hogwarts. 

They got off the train and followed the trail of lanterns which were either lying on the floor or hanging in trees. By this time it was pitch black. There was a slight wind in the air, but it was still warm. The children followed the trail until they got 2 a gate.

"What's this about?" Asked Benji to Jimmy.

"Not sure."

Benji, Penelope and Luzia could all see the thestrals because they saw their father's dead body when they were only 3 months old in their driveway.

Professor McGonagall came out of nowhere and began to speak behind the gate.

"These are the carriage's you will sit in. You may be able to see the thestrals that will dive each carriage. When I open this gate, I want you to get into groups with the people in your house  and climb aboard your designated carriage."
