The Curse

[Chapter 2 - Unwelcomed guest]

Amity made it home safely, at the front door she hesitated to head inside. She didn't want to deal with her parents or the twins, Emira and Edric. Their pranks always managed to get the three of them in trouble. Sighing she carefully opened the door trying not to let her parents know that she made it back. She quickly yet quietly rushed to her room before any of the maids could catch her as well. Drawing a purple spell circle in the air she summoned her phone. Thinking to herself "I wonder what Luz is up to... should I text her? About what though?" Suddenly Amity turned bright red recalling the hug and hand holding that occurred earlier. The feeling of butterflies in her stomach returned. Looking out the window she tells herself that she'll thank Luz for cheering her up. For now she would have to sleep due to the agreement Amity made with her mother. Having to help with the demonstration of new inventions took so much energy out of her. Changing into her pajamas, she closes and locks the window then finally heads to bed.

It had only felt like 3 hours of sleep when Amity's Azura alarm clock went off. Groaning she gets out of bed to take a shower. After changing into her normal day to day outfit she manages to make it halfway through the hallway before the twins caught her. She heard Emira's and Edric's voice in sync, "hey Mittens!" Groaning Amity turns around to give the look she always gives them. "What do the two of you want?" "We're just curious about where you were last night." The two said already guessing where or who she was with. Amity didn't answer not wanting to tell the twins, she knew that if told them she was with Luz they'll tease her all week. "I was studying at the library with Boscha." Emira and Edric knew she was lying, she's always been a terrible liar. "You were with Luz again weren't you?" Edric said while poking Amity's cheek. Without hesitation Amity drew  two spell circles summoning abominations to grab the twins. She rushed downstairs in a panic to avoid being teased.

When she turned the corner someone spoke, "Morning Mittens." A voice Amity shuttered at. Her mother, Odilia Blight. Amity quickly corrected any imperfections before she can be called out on it. "Morning mother. The twins will be down shortly." A second later the twins ran down to stand right beside Amity. Saying good morning to their mother and father as well. Amity sat down beside the twins across from her father, Alador Blight and mother. Before anyone could get a word out abominations started to bring out the food they prepared. Amity wanted to quickly finish her meal since it was boring hearing their mother go over the plans for tonight's show. She felt uneasy around her too which didn't help. Looking down at her lap she tries to sneak her phone to text a certain someone. Emira and Edric gave each other a look knowing they were right earlier. Hearing her mother call her name she knew she didn't have much time before she became extremely busy with the tasks that were going to be given. Pressing send she quickly got off the phone nervous for Luz's response. Soon enough she'll be able to see Luz once more at school she thought.

A small headache woke Luz up instead of an alarm. Maybe she hasn't drank enough water? She went to the kitchen to get a glass of water to help get rid of the headache. Noticing that the house was silent she walked back into the living room to see if anyone was here. Seeing a note left on the table, picking it up she read out loud, "Out to get groceries with King. Snacks too for tonight. Watch the house, be back soon. Signed Eda" "I wonder how long they've been out when I was asleep." Looking up at the clock it read 2:34 PM. Luz shocked, starts to yell "holy heck! Why didn't anyone wake me! Well thankfully I don't have any plans for today... so then what should I do?" Already bored out of her mind despite waking up a few minutes ago she flops onto the couch.
