The Curse

[Chapter 4 - What happened? II]

The last school bell rang, everyone starts packing but Amity was already out the door. Wanting to just jump into Luz's arms already she quickly rushed to the gates. Passing through everyone without making eye contact or saying hello. She was making it clear that she needed somewhere to be. Before she could even start heading in the direction of the owl house she heard her phone ringing, taking it out to see who it was. Her mother, "have I done something wrong?" She picked up not wanting to get in trouble. "My dear Mittens your father and I need you down here at the factory." Amity clutched her uniform, "but mother I promised Bos-" Her mother cut her off, "We made a deal Amity. A blight always upholds their end of the deal." If she didn't listen she surely knew she wouldn't be able to get out if the house at all the rest of the week. "Yes mother, I'll be there." Hanging up Amity wanted to cry but she's couldn't in front of all these people. She had no choice, she'll visit Luz later tonight.

A few hours have passed by now with the sun already setting. Getting a text from Willow reading, "How's Luz? Seen her yet?" Feeling guilty Amity put her phone away. She started running to the owl house not being able to wait any longer. After running for a few minutes, just over the horizon she could see the owl house. Deciding to walk to catch her breath she prepared herself. Amity hesitated to knock. A cold breeze made a chill go down her spine.

Eda tried so many potions to try and help Luz stay in a more human form. She had trouble doing basic things due to her claws and all. "Eda take a break, you've been working on this all day and night" King was concerned since Eda wouldn't do much except this. Knowing how Luz must feel made her heart ache. Luz was stuck in her wolf form at the moment wanting to see her friends. Unable to she of course became upset. She was scared and alone. Eda thought for a moment. "King I got it! We'll surprise her. No matter what form she's in we still think of her as our Luz. I'll get supplies." Eda quickly grabbed her staff to fly to the market to get Luz's favorite foods. As she opened the door she looked back, "King you're in charge, I'll be back!" When Eda looked forward she screamed. Amity was standing in front of her ready to knock. "I- uh sorry Eda the owl lady. I wanted to check on Luz to see if she's okay. She hasn't been answering her phone or been at school. Is she here?" Eda's face went blank, she needed to think of an excuse fast. Mumbling, "distraction spell...?" She put her finger on her chin thinking it might work. Before she can execute her plan a loud crash could be heard upstairs. Amity looked up, seeing that the window was broken and boarded up her concern only grew even more. "Sorry kid, Luz and King are messing around up there. And I'm out to head to the market." Amity looked behind Eda seeing King laying on the couch trying to take a nap. Either Amity is hearing things or the owl lady is a worse liar than her. Narrowing her eyes knowing something is up. "King is sitting beh-" Amity was cut off by the door being slammed in her face.  "I'm going out the back door." Eda ran to the kitchen slamming the door shut behind her.  "That could have gone better..." King thought. He put his head back down on the couch to take yet another nap.

Right before Amity showed up Luz was becoming more irritated by the second. She was mad that this curse prevented her from seeing friends, especially Amity. Clawing at the floor boards to get Eda's attention didn't seem to work. She couldn't speak, she was stuck communicating with growling, whimpering or barking. Finally giving up she curls up resting her head on her paws. Before she could even relax for a minute Luz's ears immediately perked up when she heard Eda scream. Ready to protect her she stopped when she heard another voice. It was Amity, ears going flat against her head she tried to desperately get her attention. Heart racing conflicted on what to do, risk it all to see Amity or do nothing leaving Amity in the dark? Scratching at the floor boards weren't working she needed to try something else.

"Why does everyone keep cutting me off today?" Amity said with an annoyed tone. She didn't want to leave with more questions. She slowly backed up trying to see if she could peek into Luz's room. More crashes could be heard, she ran back to the door banging on it. "Luz! Are you in there?!" Frantically she was ready to summon a fire ball to bust down the door.
