"We must be getting to dinner Y/N. It's almost seven o'clock" Narcissa sighed. That means that I have to face her husband again. "Would you be alright with me apologising to Lucius over dinner?" I asked shyly.

She looked at me in confusion, "but Y/N, you have nothing to be sorry for" she said, cupping my cheek with her soft hands. "Well, I did cause an argument between the two of you. Besides, I don't want him to hate me and apologising will clear the air" I said calmly.

She planted a soft kiss on my forehead and I melted at her touch. "Only if you are sure. Remember that I will be there if anything goes wrong love" she said with a small smile. I could tell she was unsure if it was a good idea.

I needed to do this though. I couldn't leave things the way they were left. As much as he was in the wrong, he is the patriarch and I must respect him.

"I am sure" I replied. She nodded and left before me so that nothing looked suspicious if we were seen leaving together.

I waited a few minutes then also left my room. I made my way down the long hallway and into the dining room. Everyone was already present at the dinner table.

I apologised for being late and sat down next to Narcissa. "You aren't late Y/N" she said with a smile. My heart skipped a beat, the way she says my name- it just rolls off her tongue so effortlessly.

As food began to appear, I decided to speak up. "Mr Malfoy, can I say something?". He looked up from his plate and glared at me, then nodded once. "I just wanted to apologise for yesterday. I didn't mean to cause an argument between you and your wife"

I felt a hand grip my thigh, causing me to jump. "What is the matter with you?" Lucius questioned. "Nothing Sir" I spoke quietly. He raised his eyebrow making my heart beat ten times faster. What if he knew about us?

I moved my hand to grip Narcissa's. I slowly pulled it off my leg and held it under the table. I didn't want to draw any attention to us since she was making me flustered.

"I guess I accept your apology Y/N" he said while standing up, I briskly dropped her hand and carried on eating. I could sense her looking at me. "Where are you going?" I heard her ask him.

"Out" was all she got in response and he left the room. The tension in the air had lifted and you could almost hear everyone sigh with relief.

"Draco, I also wanted to apologise to you" he looked at me, breaking off the conversation with Pansy. "Me? Why?"

"Well, I'd only just met your parents and I had already caused so many problems. I'm sorry if I embarrassed you" I said shyly. He gave me a quiet smile.

"Y/N, it's alright. In fact, I'm quite used to it" he said with a little chuckle. "Draco!" Narcissa hissed, making me giggle slightly. She turned to me and gave me a half-hearted smile.

'Maybe her marriage is worse than it seems' I thought to myself.

I grabbed her hand, "I'm just going to the restroom, I shan't be long". She squeezed my hand and I walked out.

Upon leaving the bathroom, I felt someone grab my wrist and spin me around. I was met by an angry Lucius. My heart was pounding like a drum.

"How dare you undermine me in front of my family" he hissed. I could smell the firewhisky on his breath, making me feel physically sick.

"I didn't mean to" I whispered. His rough hand clasped around my neck, forcing me into a wall. I gasped when my back collided with the bricks. "Who do you think you are, you little orphan?" he spat. His nose was just inches from mine.

I struggled against his grasp, desperately trying to break free. "Don't try to escape me Y/L/N" he said as his hand tightened around my neck. I could feel bruises beginning to form as my airways began to close.

"Struggling to breathe are we?" he chuckled. "Please Mr Malfoy, let me go" I cried aloud, hoping someone would hear me.

His fist collided with my jaw, I felt blood trickle down my lip. "You have no right to speak... you should've died in that fire" I whimpered at the pain he had just caused me.

"I want you gone by the morning, or else" and he let go of me, making me fall to the floor. I cried in a heap on the floor, I should have done something to stop him.

I lay there for a while until I heard footsteps. I didn't know who it was so I curled into a ball and hid my face, fearful it was him again.
