Chapter 22

Once I woke up, I took out some parchment paper and ink to write Narcissa a letter.

Dearest Narcissa,

Hope you are doing well! I don't want to say too much as I think it would be better to talk in person but I have spoken to Draco. He has told me what he must do and has requested that I help him. I think I should discuss this with you since you are his mother. I am also aware that Bella has gone back to her old ways. I'm quite disappointed in her considering she told us that was in the past. But I know we can't control her. Would you like to meet at the three broomsticks this Saturday? Miss you,

I signed it with a kiss to let her know that I love her. I can't make anything too obvious in case our letters get intercepted or lost by chance.

I made sure to hand it to my owl before lessons started. This way, I know that I will get a faster response.

I got up to get dressed straight away, giving me enough time to prepare for my first class, divination.

Don't get me wrong, Professor Trelawney is nice and all but I can't stand her class.

After an hour had passed, my owl returned clutching a letter, waiting to be opened. I reached for the letter quickly, ripping it open.

Dear Y/N,

I'm doing well thank you. It's very quiet here without you! Just to let you know, I am going back to Malfoy Manor for the time being. We can discuss plans when we meet on Saturday. I shall meet you at the three broomsticks as you said at 1 pm. We have quite a few things we must talk over. I miss you too,

"SHE PUT TWO KISSES" I yelled, forgetting where I was. Pansy shot up and looked at me in utter disbelief. "Seriously Y/N, must you shout like that this early in the morning?" she mumbled.

I giggled, "sorry Pansy, just got a letter from her". I watched as she smirked at me, "her being a certain Mrs Malfoy?"

I threw my pillow at her, smacking her in the face. "You are so lucky it is just us two in the dorm. Remember that nobody can know about Narcissa and I Pansy" she nodded quickly and got herself out of bed.

"Come on, let's go grab some breakfast before divination" she sighed.

She got dressed pretty quickly and then we made our way to the great hall.

"I'll be over in a second" I said to Pansy as I walked over to the Gryffindor table. I wrapped my arms around Harry and Ron. "Hey, guys! Did you miss me?"

"Y/N!" Harry said, jumping up from his seat and hugging me instantly. "Yep" Ron said, through a mouthful of food. I watched as Hermione rolled her eyes at him in disgust before turning to me. "Are you feeling better after I saw you last night Y/N?"

"Yeah, much better after some sleep. Thanks Mione" I said with a small smile. "Why? What happened last night" Harry asked, concerned. "Oh, I bumped into her in the corridor and she-"

"I was just a little overwhelmed being back here" I cut her off, I didn't need more people knowing that I was upset, it's too risky.

"Oh right. Well as long as you're alright now Y/N" Harry said sympathetically. "Yeah, I'm fine. I'll see you guys in potions?" they nodded and said goodbye as I went back to join Pansy and Draco.

"What took you so long?" Pansy asked as I sat down opposite them. "Oh, just Hermione let slip that I was upset last night and they were asking me if I was alright" I said, reaching for a slice of toast.

"You were upset last night?" Draco asked. "Yeah, after we spoke Dray" I said unbothered. "I didn't know? What was the matter, was it something I said?" he asked beginning to get a little worried.

"Well sort of. It wasn't your fault, just when I asked about your aunt" I whispered, so nobody would hear us. "Oh yeah. Sorry" he said softly. "It's alright, I'm fine now"

I love that he is caring but I can't be bothered to deal with any more sympathy.

Professor Trelawney was talking to the class about what we will be covering in today's lesson. I couldn't be bothered to listen, so I put my head in my hands hoping it would pass quicker.

"Miss Y/L/N please sit up" Trelawney asked. I slowly sat up and looked her dead in the eye. She looked intimidated by me which made me giggle.

"I- is something funny Y/N?" she stuttered. "N-no Professor" I mimicked causing the class to erupt into laughter.

"Leave my classroom. Now" she shouted, trying to be assertive. I wasn't going to complain so I stood up and grabbed my things. She watched in silence as I walked out of her classroom.

The class had only just begun so I had plenty of time before I needed to head to potions.

I decided to go to the black lake to be with my own thoughts for a while.

When I got there, I sat down on a large log and stared out into the distance. The cold September air nipped at my nose.

I pulled out my book, Sweeney Todd, and began reading. I had gotten to the part where Mr Todd makes his first kill.

I was lost in my book, I hadn't even realised that I was joined by someone. "I love that book" he spoke. I dropped it in shock and turned to see Harry was sitting next to me. "Sorry, didn't mean to scare you" he said as I picked my book up and placed it back in my bag.

"It's my favourite" I replied, giving him a soft smile. "What are you doing out here Y/N. Shouldn't you be in divination?" he asked me. "I walked out. Free period?"

He merely nodded his head, "what's up?" I asked him. "Nothing really" he answered. I could tell that there was something really bothering him. "Harry, what is it? You can talk to me" I said reassuringly.

He turned to face me and looked me in the eye. His green eyes pierced mine, I felt like I knew what was coming.
