Chapter 38

I arrived back at Hogwarts and made my way up to the dorm. I opened the door slowly and saw that Pansy was still asleep. It was almost 6 o'clock now meaning she would be up soon.

I crept across the room and got into bed.

"Y/N? Where have you been?" Pansy asked sleepily, sitting up. I sat up also, panicking.

"Oh, I couldn't sleep so I sat in the common room and read" I lied.

"You were nowhere to be seen yesterday, neither was Draco. Do you even know what happened?" I needed to think of something and fast.

"We were studying in the library sorry. What happened yesterday?" I asked with a puzzled look yet knowing exactly what she was talking about.

"Dumbledore... he is dead" my eyes widened but my mind laughed. Of course, I knew that he was dead, I was there. But nobody can know that.

"What? How?"

"Two words... Severus Snape" I just continued to look at her in shock. But that meant, the whole school mustn't know Draco and I was there.

"It's awful, isn't it? I never really liked the man but, he didn't deserve to die" I silently agreed, unsure of what to say.

"Anyways, we need to get ready. We have potions first... with Snape" I pulled a face when she mentioned his name, she returned it.

I walked into potions slightly nervous. Snape knows Draco and I were there, I don't want him to ask us to stay behind.

I sat down in my usual seat, next to Harry. "Morning" I said, taking my seat. Harry stayed silent. "I'm talking to you, Potter"

"And?" he spat. I nudged him slightly to get his attention, he turned towards me. Face like thunder.

"What's your problem this morning Harry?"

It took him a while to answer, "I know what you did Y/N" I could feel my heart begin to pound in my chest, know what?!

"I- I don't know what you're talking about"

"Don't act dumb. I saw you there with Malfoy. You lied to me, and you did nothing to stop Snape. Dumbledore was a good man, I can't bear to look at you"

I just looked at him in disbelief.

Without saying a word, I stood up and removed myself from the classroom. I can't stay here with him. It's too much of a risk.

If people begin to notice that he is being weird around me, questions will get asked. The last thing I need right now is for the school to know what Harry knows.

After walking for a few minutes I heard my name being called. I turned around to be met by Draco. "Why'd you walk out?"

"Potter" I monotonously replied.

"Oh, what's he done now?" I took Draco by the arm and pulled him closer to a wall so we are less likely to be seen.

"He knows. He said he saw us, last night"

"He can't have, we-"

"I know, but he did. I don't know how but we aren't safe around him"

"What do you suggest we do?"

"I don't know"

We stood in silence for a few moments before I finally spoke up. "Right, we are going home. It's our only option"

"Are you suggesting we drop out of school?" I merely nodded before apparating us to Malfoy manor.

We stood at the doors of Malfoy manor, once more. "Y/N we can't just drop out! We have exams coming up and they're important"

"Draco, it doesn't matter. I think our safety should come first, don't you think?" he barely got the chance to shrug his shoulders because I dragged him through the door and into the library.

Narcissa and Bellatrix were sat contently reading but both of their heads shot up at the presence of the two of us. "Y/N? Draco? What on earth are you doing here?" Narcissa exclaimed, Bella was just staring at us in pure shock.

"Potter knows, he saw us in the astronomy tower the night that Dumbledore died"

"H-how?" Bellatrix was now standing, looking slightly fearful.

"I'm not sure Bella. But that doesn't matter, because we're not going back there" I watched as Narcissa's eyes widened.

"How many times have we had this conversation? You are not dropping out of school Y/N, and Draco you definitely will not either" she was raising her voice which I didn't even know was possible, coming from her.

"Can we at least stay here for a week?"

"One week. Then you are going back, understood?" we nodded our heads and she sat back down, continuing to read. Bella just stood, mouth wide open. "Bellatrix, are you trying to catch flies?" Cissy sneered.

Bella's mouth subconsciously shut and she too, returned to her seat saying nothing.
