Chapter 36

Today was the day.

I opened my eyes slowly and stared at the ceiling for a while. The only thing that will keep me sane today is the thought of the woman who placed this ring on my finger.

Pansy woke up and began shifting around the dorm, yet I lay still. I didn't want to tell her I wasn't going to any lessons today, she knows nothing about Draco and I.

"Y/N? Aren't you going to get up?" Pansy asked, pulling me out of my thoughts.

"No, I don't feel like going" I sighed, turning back over and shutting my eyes.

"Is it because you miss Narcissa?" I could only nod. "Oh Y/N" she sighed and sat down on the bed next to me. I felt patronised but there was nothing I could do.

"I'll be fine, I just need one more day"

"Okay Y/N. Would you like me to check on you at lunch?" I turned over to face her and smiled weakly.

"Thank you, Pansy. I think I'll be alright" I lied.

She nodded then continued to get ready. I shut my eyes again until she finally left. I released a breath of relief understanding I had little time.

After a short while of waiting for students to swarm into their morning lessons, I left my dorm room and walked into the common room. I was greeted by a blonde boy sat on the sofa, staring hard into the fire.

"I was wondering when you would be ready" he spoke nonchalantly without removing his gaze from the flames.

"I'm here now Dray. Are you coming?" I spoke softly. He nodded once then stood up, finally breaking his gaze with the small blaze. We both headed towards the door but he suddenly gripped my wrist.

"Y/N I'm scared... I- I don't know if I want to do this" my stomach dropped. He can't back out now, we've come so far. Besides, he may not even need to do it.

"Dray, look at me" he forced his ice grey eyes to look into mine. "You are strong, you can do this. I know it won't be easy but I also know that you are Draco Lucius Malfoy, fearless" he let out a light chuckle and hugged me. I hugged him back, knowing he needed it.

"Thank you Y/N" he whispered before releasing me. "I think that I am ready now" he sighed. I nodded and smiled, continuing to walk out of the room.

We walked in silence until we got to the corridor of the room of requirement. "I'm going to go in there and get Bella. You head up to the astronomy tower. He should be there" he said nothing but I could sense the fear.

"Everything will be fine Draco, you've got this. And remember, I will be there by your side. Now go" I smiled, he did as he was told and I waited for the doors to appear.

It didn't take long but when they began to appear, my head throbbed. I entered as quickly as I could and ran over to the vanishing cabinet. There was no sign of Bella just yet so I opened the door.

"Oh hello Y/N" Bellatrix cackled making me jump slightly. "Come on boys, we've got ourselves a headmaster to kill" she smirked at me on her way past. I just stared in disbelief before realising they could be seen.

"Wait!" I yelled. The group of death eaters turned on their heels to face me, it felt so intimidating. "You could be seen by a student or worse, a professor. Besides, you probably don't know where you're going... let me lead the way" I blurted out.

"Such a lady" Bella smiled, clapping me on the back. I winced walking past them and I began to take them to the headmaster.

We ascended the stairs and could hear Draco talking to Dumbledore. Draco sounded like he was going to break, I couldn't just leave him to be on his own, I made a promise.

Before anyone could stop me I was stood by his side. "Y/N?" Dumbledore exclaimed.

"Yes?" I raised an eyebrow at the less calm headmaster.

"You... are you... one of them?" he gestured to Draco's arm, which I noticed to be bearing the dark mark.

"No... but I may as well be one" I smiled as I watched his face drop at my words. His eyes shifted behind me, I didn't even need to turn around to know who was standing behind me.

"Well done Draco" she whispered, making Dray jump.

"Bellatrix, I believe introductions are in order" the headmaster stated, but Bella was having none of it. She began going off on a rampage...

"Bellatrix stop it!" I demanded, all heads flew to look at me. Her eyes burned into my face for a short while, making me fear for my life but she nodded and took a step back.

"Draco... you don't have to do this" Dumbledore sighed. Draco's face twisted, he was about to cry but he knew he couldn't. Crying is a sign of weakness... allegedly.

"Shut it Dumbledore... I have to kill you, or he will kill me" his voice was breaking tremendously, where is Snape?!

Just as that thought popped into my head, the tall man revealed himself. My heart stopped beating as fast and my body relaxed.

The event drowned out, things went fuzzy and the next thing I knew the words "Avada kedavra" flooded into my brain bringing me back to reality.

My eyes focused just as the headmaster was flung backwards off the astronomy tower, emotionless. I flung my head around to look at Draco, he was in shock but his wand was by his side. Snape had killed him.

Snape was the one that murdered Albus Dumbledore, he fulfilled Narcissas wishes.

Bella walked over to the balcony, shooting the dark mark into the sky. Her laughter rang in my ears, I subconsciously walked over to Draco and took him by the shoulders, taking him away from the situation.
