Chapter 30
"Sorry talaga." he apologized once more.
"It's fine." I said.
He finished wiping off the champagne he spilled at me.
It's not a lot, though.
Gusto ko ngang magbakasyon to release all of the stress tapos siya 'yong katabi ko sa flight. This is freakin' not true.
"Do you want me to pay for your shirt?" he asked.
Wow, ha?
"I know you can afford but, I can, too." I said.
Siya lang ba ang may pera?
"Okay." he said.
Why him? Among all of those people who booked a bussines flight, bakit siya pa ang katabi ko?
It was two years ago when I last saw him. We were studying at Dave's house for the BAR exam. Hindi mapakali ang mga kaibigan ko no'n. He was bound to leave the house as we arrived.
My phone rang.
I answered it. It's Dave.
"Hey." I said.
[Where are you?]
"I'm already at the plane. I'm gonna turn off my phone na." I said.
[Kailangan talaga i-off?]
"Yes, I don't want to be disturbed. Take care of my papers when I'm away." I said then laughed a little.
[Sure. Take care, 'kay?]
"I will and I hope you take care of yourself, too, especially when I'm away. Baka kung ano-ano na ang ginagawa mo diyan."
I can sense that he faced my seat.
[Wala naman akong ginagawa, mga iniwang trabaho mo lang.] he said sarcastically.
I laughed.
"Sige na."'
[Bye! Love lots.]
"You, too. Muah!" I said.
I ended the call and turned off my phone. Kahit kailan talaga 'tong si Dave. It's not that I can't take care of myself.
"Boyfriend mo?"
Chismoso, ah.
"Why should I answer you?"
"Oh. Sorry." he said.
Thank God I bought a book with me. I don't know how to handle this situation. Hindi ko inaasahang darating ang araw na ito.
The hell?! Why am I bringing this book?
Agad kong binalik sa bag ko ang libro. It was all too late when he saw it.
"You still have the book I gave you, huh?"
Goodness...
"Bakit? You still even have the headphone I gave you." I said.
"We're even." sabi niya.
Hindi ko na siya pinansin. I tried my best to sleep but, how can I? I always catch him looking at me. He's wearing a cap but and I can still tell.
Diyos ko, Jenim. Umayos ka! You're almost twenty seven and you can't be pissed off like this.
"Ano ba'ng kailangan mo?" I finally asked.
I saw how his eyes widened.
"Nothing. How are you?"
Ayan!
