God why did everything have to end up in a fight for your life?Donnie decided to take you and go on a walk this evening, only to notice a bunch of Foot soldiers that were stealing stuff from shipping containers down at the docks. He quickly phoned his brothers to tell them what was going on before turning to you.
"Stay here dove." He whispered before disappearing into the shadows. You watched from behind a container as he took out soldiers left and right. He was holding his own pretty well, but you were getting uncomfortable with how close to the edge of the docks he was getting. It was then that you noticed someone sneaking up behind him.
"Donnie!" You yelled out as he knocked out another soldier. He turned too late and the soldier behind him smacked him, hard, on the head with a piece of metal. He dropped, falling sideways and splashing into the water below.
You didn't know you could move so fast. Off went the jacket and you were picking up a stray pipe and clubbing the soldier in the head and diving into the water. You saw Donnies floating form start to sink and you swam towards him.
The only problem being, he's a giant turtle. And a very tall turtle at that. You thought back to the lifesaving lesson that you had as a kid in swimming lessons, and got behind him, lifting his head up and resting it on your shoulder, putting your hands onto his shell as you struggled to keep you both from drowning.
"Donnie!" You brought up one hand and gently slapped his face. He didn't respond. You groaned as you struggled to keep him up. You clung tightly to his shell and treaded water ferociously, the adrenaline keeping you from tiring out.
"Donnie! Come on, please. Wake up," you said and he just groaned. But groaning was a good thing. It meant he was alive. You looked around and saw a ladder attached to the docks, so you adjusted your hold on him and made your slow swim to the ladder.
Once you made it, you clutched the metal bar of the ladder tightly and lifted Donnie up as much as you could out of the water. You sat as much of your butt as you could on one of the metal rings and hoisted Donnie's upper half onto your lap so his head was out of the water. You glanced around to see if anyone had spotted you yet and almost cried in relief when you heard familiar voices.
"Donnie! You still here?" You heard Leo whisper yell.
"I don't think he's still here," you heard Raph grumble next.
"Leo! Raph!" You called out and heard them run towards the ladder where you and Donnie were. Leo's blue eyes peeked down at you first and widened when he saw the position you were in.
"Y/n! Oh my-... hold on," he dove headfirst into the water beside you and then resurfaced, looking up at Raph.
"Lower down that chain up there or something. I'll wrap it around Donnie then you can pull him up," he ordered then looked at you. "Are you okay?" He asked as. You sighed in relief when Leo started to wrap the chain around Donnie's unconscious form and nodded.
"Yeah. Yeah I'm fine. I don't know about him though," you relaxed when Donnie's weight started to lift off you a little bit.
"Here, can you tread water for a few moments more?" Asked Leo. You nodded and dropped yourself back into the water, just now realizing how cold it was. Leo climbed up part of the ladder and lifted Donnie from underneath as Raph pulled him up. When they got Donnie safely up, Leo climbed down and got you back to the ladder.
"Okay, now we can get back up," he said and you nodded, teeth chattering a little bit. He frowned in concern as you started climbing out of the frigid water. He followed quickly and wrapped his arms around himself to try and warm up. Being a cold blooded turtle, he got cold faster than normal, but was more concerned about you and Donnie.
"Y/n!" Mikey came over to you a gave you a big hug to help warm you up, wrapping his arms tight around you and rubbing up and down your arms. You just looked at Donnie, who slightly groaned again. You noticed the wound on his head was bleeding a little bit, but not enough to kill him.
"What happened?" Raph asked and you shook your head.
"They were h-here, h-he called you g-guys and some m-man hit Donnie in the h-head. He went o-over and I j-just went in after h-him." You shivered. Leo shivered as well from his spot next to you and looked at you.
"W-we need to g-get back to the l-lair," he tried to keep his shivering under control but it wasn't working. Raph picked Donnie up and Mikey picked you up, and then you were off to the lair.

"Here," Leo came into the lab with two cups of tea, one for him and one for you. You thanked him and placed both your hands around the cup to warm up your freezing fingers. You adjusted the blanket around your shoulders as Leo sat down across from you on the other side of Donnies medical cot. He grabbed his own blanket and placed it across his lap.
"You guys are heavy," you finally said and Leo chuckled.
"That comes with being a giant turtle with a huge shell." He sipped his tea and scrunched his face up when he burned his mouth.
"I thought he was gonna drown. I thought I was gonna drown." You finally admitted. Leo sighed.
"I don't think any of us can thank you enough for saving Donnie tonight. Not many people would do that for us," he said quietly. You smiled shyly at him.
"Well, I would've done it for any one of you."
"We know," he smiled back.
"Holy sewer apples. My head," groaned Donnie from his cot and you giggled while Leo rolled his eyes.
"Well seeing that he's awake, I'll leave you two to talk," Leo took his stuff and left the room, giving you a wink on the way out. Donnie finally opened his eyes and glanced over at you, then frowned.
"Why are you wet?" He asked pointing out your soaking hair. You laughed.
"Well now, that's a long story," you sighed and Donnie raised an eye ridge. Then the realization hit him and his eyes widened.
"Oh no! The docks. I remember you calling me; then someone hitting me in the head." His panicked eyes looked at you and he sat up straighter and grabbed your hand. "You aren't hurt right? They didn't get you?"
"Whoa whoa whoa. Calm down there genius," you gently pushed him back down by the plastron, keeping a hold of his hand. "Yes, I'm fine. No, they didn't get me."
"Then I ask again, why are you wet?" His doe eyes stared at you. You sighed and looked down.
"You-... you... Uhhh. You may have fallen into the river?" It came out as more of a question than a statement. He raised an eye ridge.
"I may have?"
"You may have? And I may have jumped in and saved you from drowning?" You shrugged when you saw his face. "Don't worry Donnie. I'm fine."
"But I could've killed you! Do you know how heavy I am? And to carry both me and you-..." he sighed. "I'm sorry dove. I didn't mean for this to happen."
"Donnie-..." you made him scooch over and lay your head on his plastron while he played with your wet hair. "I know you didn't mean for this to happen. It's not your fault."
"I just don't want you to get hurt."
"Look at me. I'm fine Donnie. Besides, now I get to say that I've saved your life," you laughed. He chuckled and kissed the top of your head.
"My guardian angel."
___________________________I'm sorry if some of the lifesaving stuff is inaccurate cause even though I've done swimming lessons, we haven't gotten deep into that part yet. I know basic lifesaving skills but nothing involving keeping up a giant turtle.
Hope you enjoyed!!
