Headcannon- Churring

Okay, so I've seen many different takes on the boys and their churrs, so I just want to make it clear how my take on them is, especially since I've written Leo churring in his sick chapter.

Let's go...

Churring

- All four of them churr.

- They can't really help it sometimes

- but they all try their hardest not to do it cause they think it's embarrassing.

- Leo and Donnie are the best at suppressing it

- Raph is pretty good too

- Mikey doesn't really give a damn so...

- Different tones mean different things

- All four of them know exactly what each tone means for each other

- so they practically have their own mini language

**- Mainly used when they're happy and content; but they also use it when they're aroused

- But each turtle has very specific churrs, so let's go into that; shall we?

Leo💙

- His is deep

- Just a low rumbling that is quiet most of the time

- He tries his hardest to keep the urge down because it always reminds him that they'll never be fully human

- But when he does churr, it can get fairly loud, especially if he's really truly happy

- It can mean many different things..

- but all of them use it when they're happy or content.

- Leo also uses his territorial churr more often than his brothers, even Raph.

- When someone gets too close to his
s/o it happens.

- He can't help it tho

- He gets all flustered when it happens around his s/o and tries to keep it down...

- which usually makes it worse.

- But just like his brothers, it also happens when he's aroused, just like a normal turtle.

- And just like his brothers, he'll use it to arouse his s/o.

- And even though he tries not to do it, if he's sick he's always too dead sick to care what's going on, so if it happens; oh well.

Raph❤️

- His is also deep

- He hates it.

- like, HATES it. He hates the fact that he can't help it and it just happens

- if he could rip out his vocal chords when it happens, he would.

- He tries his hardest to hide it when it happens...

- so he'll go to his room and wait it out

- It happens when he gets really happy and he hates that.

- He also uses his territorial churr, mainly to Mikey to tell him to back off

- If his s/o asks about it, he'll get all flustered and probably angry since he can't help it

- but settles down when his s/o tells him it's fine and they like it, and they think it's cute

- Like his brothers, it happens when he's aroused

- and also like his brothers, he'll use it to arouse his s/o

- And even though he tries not to do it, if he's sick he doesn't care and if it happens it happens

Donnie💜

- His is slightly higher pitched than Leo and Raph's.

- If he's really focused on something like a project and he gets happy, he'll churr slightly without noticing

- often his brothers will come into his lab and hear him distractedly working away on something with a low and quiet churr resonating around his lab

- He suppresses it as best he can when others are around

- but knows that he can't help it, they're turtles and nothing will change that

- He accepts it more than Raph and Leo, because he knows it's natural for turtles.

- If his s/o catches him churring while working, he'll get flustered and probably laugh nervously, but the churr makes his laugh rumble as well.

- He also uses his territorial churr, mainly to Mikey to tell him to stop touching his stuff

- If his s/o ever tells him they like it or they think it's cute, he'll probably use it more just to make them smile

- Just like his brothers, it happens when he's aroused

- And just like his brothers, he'll use it to arouse his s/o

- And like Raph, even though he tries not to do it, if he's sick he doesn't care and if it happens it happens

Mikey🧡

- This guy doesn't even give a damn

- If it happens, it happens.

- He uses it more than his brothers to communicate with them, cause why not

- Higher pitched than Donnie's, just slightly

- He used it all the time when he's happy and doesn't even try to hide it.

- Why should he? It means he's happy

- If his s/o ever tells him they like it, he's use it even more to make them smile and laugh

- would probably end up trying to teach his s/o to churr

- The only time he ever uses a territorial churr is when someone is getting too touchy with his s/o

- Like his brothers, it happens when he's aroused.

- And like his brothers, he'll use it to arouse his s/o

- He uses it when he's sick to make people feel bad for him. But if he's really, seriously sick, he'll usually use it to make someone stay with him and cuddle so he isn't alone

That's my head cannon on the boys churrs, so if it ever pops up into one of my other stories, you know what I write it based off of
