Chapter Two: Into the Woods...

My brown curls danced behind me as the wind sent shivers up and down my spine. My eyes grew wider, revealing the gold with silver sparks in them, a sign that I was born to be Alpha someday. My eyes would soon turn red though, the gold and silver never to return. Red eyes are a sign of a Rogue, that's who I am now - a lone Rogue. I had grown up loving the woods, playing in them and spending most of my adolescence near the trees, but now being here makes me sick. This is now my home.

"Fuck!" I began to curse the silence.

How could he do this to me? So much for loving me.

My Mother died when I was only 13, I was never let in on exactly how. The day I found out about her death my Father promised to always love me and do whatever was in my best interest. He kept his promise everyday, until this one. He had lost all hope, faith and love in me. I had let him down, but that gives him no right to abandon me! 

Crunch

The sound from a pile of leaves being stepped on snapped me back into reality.

"Who's there?" I called out, but no reply was given.

I rolled my eyes, of course I would be paranoid. I went to take some more steps forward but was stopped when a strange, low voice hit my ears. "Don't move."

"Why should I listen to you?" I have always been a stubborn person, I blame my mother.

A low growl escaped his lips, was that supposed to scare me? "I don't like your tone lady." I couldn't make out his looks or location.

"I don't think you know who you're talking to! I am Lisa Forte, Daughter of the Alpha from Redwood Pack." Even though I wasn't part of their pack anymore it didn't change the DNA inside me.

"Really? Because I smell... Rogue." His words were a dagger in my heart. I shot him a look of confusion as he stepped from the shadows. His black hair shined under the moonlight and his red hungry eyes revealed he had horrible plans in store for me.

"Don't come any closer to me." I growled.

He chuckled, taking multiple steps in my direction. Once a wolf becomes a Rogue they hate everything that comes in their path. They become blood hungry. Another growl, deeper than the last, escaped my lips. That seemed to fuel something inside of him because next thing I know he's on top of me.

"Motherfucker!" He growled as I sank my teeth into his shoulder, pushing him off me.

I was quick to take the chance to take him down. Hearing the wind knock out of his lungs as his back slammed against the forest floor was priceless.

"You won't survive in these woods long!" He barked just as my razor sharp teeth sunk into his neck, ending his life.

I hurried to my feet, taking off. He was right. I may have been able to take him down, but what about when someone stronger comes along? When a pack comes along.

Just at that moment I realized for the first time that my life has an expiration date.
