Chapter Three: My Mate, The Alpha.
My feet slammed down hard against the forest ground, I couldn't run any faster. My heart began to beat a mile a minute, adrenalin pumping through my veins. I could feel my inner wolf taking over. I wanted to run, run and never stop. I could feel the blood rush up to my eyes, turning them a light red. I had just killed a Rogue and now I was becoming one.
I dashed around trees, jumped over bushed and hurtled over fallen logs. Having absolutely no idea of where my feet were taking me, but allowing myself to run regardless of that fact. I looked around to figure out my whereabouts, but with the speed I was going at everything was a blur. My breathing came to a halt when I smelled it.
Another wolf.
A small growl left my lips and I grinned, feeling the power rush around my body. I began to run even faster now, the need to kill something growing inside me. I quickly became blood hungry, it was too much.
"Do you smell that?" A voice asked. I gracefully put myself in a tree, hiding my scent in one swift motion.
"Smells like a Ro-" Another voice answered, but cut themselves off before finishing. "Wait... It's gone."
"Should we alert Alpha?" The first voice asked towards the one who had answered.
"Well what the hell do you think?!" He had obviously given the other a slap on the head, making him cry out in pain.
"Fine, wait here." I heard the man walk away. A grin spread across my face, I was going to kill soon, I could feel it in me.
I was just about to climb down the tree to stalk my prey when another scent hit me. My mate is near.
"What do you mean there is a Rogue on my ter-" His husky voice cut off. "Leave me." He ordered to the men and without question I heard them stomp off.
Is this man seriously my mate? I could feel my body get hotter as he stepped closer to the tree I was hiding in.
"Come out." He demanded, his focus on the tree. How could he smell me?
"No." I hissed, whether this man was my mate or not I wasn't about to follow his orders, he isn't my Alpha.
He began to chuckle at my response. "You smell like a Rogue, but a fresh one... Why?" He questioned.
"Non of your business!" I barked, descending from the tree.
I hid in the shadows, keeping my distance but he seemed to want to get a closer look. His short medium brown hair and silver eyes made my heart speed up again. My body knew this was my mate, there was no fighting that.
"Don't come near me." I could practically feel my red eyes growing darker and by the step he took backwards it was clear he could see it too.
"You're my mate, I don't want to harm you." His voice was soothing, but it still held a husky tone.
"Go away." I could care less if he is my mate, I'm not going anywhere near him.
The wind began to shift, drawing his scent closer to my nose. As I breathed it in my eyes rolled to the back of my head. God he smelled so good, like wood burning in a campfire. He started to laugh, he had obviously been watching my eyes since they were basically glowing like a red flame in the night.
"Please, come back to my pack house... For me?" His voice mixed with his smell was enough to make me crack.
"Fine." I bit down with anger on my lip, stepping out from the shadows. He held out a hand for me to grab, but I just stared at it, not wanting to touch him.
He removed his hand from the air, getting the hint I wasn't going to go for it and laughed. "This way." He started to walk north and I followed behind, remaining to keep my distance.
As we walked through the woods I couldn't help but feel awkward. I had heard many stories on what it feels like to meet your mate for the first time, but with the condition I'm in, it wasn't helping me to feel the spark. That doesn't mean it wasn't there, it diffidently was, but I had to fight off these feelings. My body was screaming for me to jump on his and never let him go, but my head was telling me not to trust him or his pack. I was quick to become confused and frustrated.
He stopped to turn in my direction when we reached a giant house in a clearing near the middle of the woods. There were giant stones surrounding the place with wolves resting on top of some. I knew exactly what pack this way, the Moonstone Pack. My father is aliened with them, so why haven't I met my mate in the past?
"What's your name?" He asked me, that beautiful husky voice of his sending sparks around my body.
"Lisa." I answered, trying to sound as calm as possible and not let him see how much he was truly affecting me.
"I'm Hunter, Alpha of Moonstone Pack."
He turned back, making his way towards the house. His head cocked to the side, flashing me a grin. I took that as a sign to follow him and I did, no longer wanting to be near those woods.
He held the door open for me to walk through and I took him up on his offer, heading into a giant living room. The walls were a mix between stone and tan paint. The furniture placed throughout the room was oddly shaped. The tan and white couch was almost in the form of an "s", not at all looking comfortable. The place looked similar to a Chinese theme. On the black table in front of the couch, there was a small tree resting on it. The lights were flat on the ceiling with another strange design in wood covering parts of them. The Moonstone Pack certainly had a unique style.
"Please sit." Hunter lifted his hand in the direction of the couch, but I shook my head no at it.
Even though I had declined his offer of a seat, it didn't stop him from taking one. He plopped down on the couch, both elbows resting at the top while his forearms and hands fell limp down the cushions. I crossed my arms across my chest, continuing to stand tall.
"You can relax." He frowned, but I didn't move from my position. "Why are you a Rogue?" I remained quite and still.
Once he finds out who I am he is sure going to tell my father, that's the last thing I need. "Does it matter?" The question made him frown once again before getting up to come closer to me.
"You're my mate, everything you do matters." He cupped his hand against my cheek, his touch sent tingles through my body, making me blush.
I pushed him away and turned to hide my blush before speaking. "I became a Rogue no more than a few hours ago." I could tell my words surprised him because he took a step back.
"A few hours? Your eyes are so dark though... I would have guessed a week." My body cringed hearing that, what was he getting at?
"Excuse me?!" I suddenly became furious, who was he to judge me? I spun on my heel to face him, my eyes growing darker with anger. "I would choose your words carefully around me."
He inched closer until his face was less than an inch from mine. "Don't test me woman." His words came out cold, but the heat of his breath brushed against my face. "I'll ask again. Why are you a Rogue." The question came out more like a statement, the anger inside him was building up, as was mine.
I took in a deep breath, releasing a sigh filled with nothing more than hate before answering him.
"I'm a Rogue because I don't take shit... Especially from Alphas."
