Chapter Twenty Six: A Fight Between Mates

Chapter Twenty Six: A Fight Between Mates

"Where have you been?" Severide asked in a demanding tone, his eyes a mix between sadness and anger.

"I'm sorry Severide, but something's come up - we need to talk." I narrowed my eyes as I glanced out the window to outside, scanning the street for Hunter, but coming up empty.

"What happened?" He questioned, getting off the bed to be near me.

"Look there's no easy way to say this and I don't think I have much time, so I'll just come right out with it." I took in a deep breath, preparing for the long speech I have to give ahead of me. "I had a dream about this girl who told me I need to pick a Mate, she started to talk to me in my mind, she controlled my body, made my jump out this window, practically dragged me through the woods, went to go see Hunter and told me he's my Mate, screamed at me for loving you and said you're a Siren!"

Severide's eyes grew wide, filled with nothing but guilt and that was all I needed for him to confirm the voices accusation thrown towards him. He stayed like that for some time and I didn't dare to break the silence. After a while though, he dropped his head to his hands and let out a deep sigh he had been suppressing.

"Listen Lisa," He started and I didn't like the sound of him beginning his confession. "I should have told you earlier and believe me I wanted to-"

"Liar!" Hunter yelled, knocking down the door to the bedroom, who I still have no idea belongs to, and stepping inside.

His eyes were black with anger and his hands were balled into fists. He looked beyond angry, it was almost like he's lost complete control over his body. A small part of me wanted to run to his side and hug him to calm him down, but most of me wanted to hide.

"Don't go near him, his wolf has taken over." The voice in my head warned. 

Hunter shot Severide a look of anger and hatred, growling loudly for him to back off. Severide didn't move from his spot though, he gave a smirk to Hunter and took a step closer. That seemed to only add to Hunters rage though. In the next second his body was hunched over, more than ready to go in for a strike at Severide.

"STOP!" I shouted at the top of my lungs and in the next moment all eyes were on me. "Someone has two minutes to explain to me what the fuck is going on!"

Anger began to course through my body, filling me with nothing but fury. I could practically feel my blood boiling over and I clenched my jaw, biting back my rage. Something strange started to happen though, I couldn't stop my body from shaking. I had become so furious towards all of this that my body was in a full spiral towards losing control over everything.

"That's the wolf in you." The voice whispered in my head and I growled in response.

"Lisa," Severide put up his hands in surrender as he slowly walked over to me. "I'll explain it all, just let me hold you to calm you down." He pleaded.

"Don't touch her." Hunter growled from the other side of the room, stalking closer to where I stand.

"Don't fucking test me wolf." Severide roared, growing more and more impatient with Hunter's anger.
