Chapter Thirteen: Through The Eyes Of Another

* * * HUNTER'S POV * * *

"Are you happy now?!" I screamed at Russel.

"Hunter, she is my daughter, she has a right to know." He answered calmly.

"To know a fucking lie?!" My chest burned with the desire to kill this man for causing pain to my mate. "You don't give a shit about anyone! You hurt her and I'm going to make sure you pay!"

I lunged towards Alpha Russel, but was taken down by my Beta. Looking into Darren's hard golden eyes calmed me down a little. An Alpha should have more control, I'm ashamed by my outburst but something snaps in me when it comes to my mate. My Lisa.

"Thanks Darren." I whispered and he gave a slight nod before getting off me.

"Hunter you're not very stable for an Alpha, are you?" Russel questioned, baiting me. "Maybe if you learn to control your emotions more, Lisa won't run away."

"She ran because you shoved a lie down her throat!" I barked, holding my wolf back from ripping Lisa's Father to shreds.

He chuckled lightly as a growl managed to escape my throat. "Hunter you killed my wife, my mate, Lisa's mother."

"My Uncle did that and he got killed because of it!" I corrected, hating the way he was twisting the situation.

"You say tomato, I say potato." He shrugged.

I took a step forward, using all my strength not to kill this man. My jaw clenched tight, holding back any words that would begin a fight. I stood there, growling, unable to move, talk, or listen. Lisa is in pain, I can feel her sadness and it makes me want to kill anything and everything in sight.

"We did you a favor!" A man yelled to me, stepping from the crowd.

I cocked my head to the side to see Jason standing there, proud and tall. It was only a few minutes ago that he almost killed my mate and now he dares to talk to me? The rage inside me grew and my breathing stopped as I attempted to hold back my wolf.

"Lisa is a bitch, she is nothing. You should kiss my feet for getting rid of her." He smiled, amused with himself as he lifted the foot that almost crushed Lisa.

"Fucking die!" That was it, that was all I needed to snap.

I shifted into my wolf, tackling Jason to the ground. Cries came from him as I dug my teeth into his shoulder, his arms, his entire body. I wanted to kill him, torture him for hurting my mate, but Darren stopped me.

Darren isn't stronger than me, not even close. The only reason I allow him to stop me is because without him I would be a nervous wreck. I have more baggage than anyone else in this pack and most of the time it effects my judgement. Being an Alpha I'm expected to do things in a civil, strategized way. I never accomplish that, but Darren always helps to make it better, make it easier.

Darren pulled me up to my feet as I shifted back to a human. "Hunter go, find Lisa. I'll handle things here." I nodded, knowing my mate needed me more than anyone else right now.

Without a word or question from anyone I dashed into the woods. My feet wouldn't move quick enough, my adrenaline wasn't powerful enough. I need Lisa in my arms, I need her to understand I would never hurt her. I need to get to her now before something bad happens. There are terrible monster lurking in every corner of these woods, God only knows what would happen to her if she runs into one.
