It had been a long, cold morning. Reality had struck me Sadie was sleeping in my bed. She was Finn's girlfriend, but he didn't deserve her so why was I feeling so guilty?

I looked through my dressers and laid out some clothes for her to change into if she wanted once she woke up. I couldn't say I was feeling regret I want this it felt so right, but it all seemed to be hitting me at once.

As I stood looking out the window I hear the ruffling of blankets and turn to see her stretching.

"Morning." I smile timidly inching forward and taking a seat in the corner of the bed. She looks at me and quickly covers her face with the blanket.

"Don't look! It's making me nervous." She slowly pulls the blanket down enough to let me catch a glimpse of her eyes. She seemed happy. That was a good sign, right?

The last thing I wanted was to make things awkward so I playfully pull the blanket away and lay next to her. I take her hand into mine and give her a small kiss on her cheek. It was the only thing I could think of doing to put her nerves at ease. She looked at me with a big grin that made my heart race.

"Wanna go get breakfast? I doubt we have any food here." I ask. I hadn't moved and I didn't want to. She nodded in response and got dressed.

Halfway down the vacant street, Sadie swings her arm near mine occasionally touching my hand. After a minute of this, I finally intertwine our hands and place them in the pocket of my jacket.

"It feels a bit surreal. Doesn't it?" Sadie chuckles while looking down at the wet pavement. "I'm sorry, for the way I treated you. And for leaving that night." Her hand tightens around mine.

I look ahead for a moment with a small smile. I shake my head assuring her it was ok.

We had arrived at the diner and it was fairly empty. It was around 8:30 am and an elderly couple sat right by the door so I led her towards the back into a booth. I sat in awe as she went on and on about some chemistry test she almost failed. I could sit here and listen to her for hours.

Once our food arrived I moved it around on my plate. I ate a bit of it but left the rest. My mother's words lingered in the back of my head she always had a way of ruining things for me even when she wasn't around.

"What's wrong? You don't like it?" Sadie asks taking a sip of her coffee. She took her coffee black in contrast to my over-sweetened preference.

I shrug not really in the mood to tell her my mom had bullied me into fearing being judged and condescended.

"Here have mine." She grabs my plate of scrambled eggs and toast placing her stack of chocolate chip pancakes in front of me. She continues eating with her eyes fixed on her plate. It made me feel better about picking up my fork and taking a slice.
